Any suggestion on starting a new internet business.

Hi everyone, I am planning to start an internet business and for that I would be soon getting my website running. The products at the star are aimed for the men’s market but would be going on a broad basis once the business takes off. I have never been or have anyone on this side of the line and so would like to get advice from you people on how to go about this.

Any help will be appreciated.

First of all, watch your cash. Something like adwords can eat your entire advertising budget in a day. Pick affiliate programs that have good payouts and low payment thresholds. Read all you can about how to generate traffic legitimately and don't fall for any black hat techniques that can get you banned from google. Don't overspend on ebooks, the bookstore has great choices if you want to read up on things. There are plenty of free websites that have good information, so take the time to research them.

Ditto on avoiding anything blackhat - if you want your business to be around long-term don't even think about it!

IF you're doing affiliate promotion it's more important that 1) the merchant is honest and 2) that they convert. Doesn't matter how high the commissions are or how low the payouts are if they cheat their affiliates, or have poor conversions!

Build an opt-in mailing list (make SURE it complies with your host's policies and CAN-SPAM) so you can keep in touch with your visitors.

Every now and then stop and take a good look at your competitors. What could you be doing that they're not? What could you be doing better?

If you have a good budget then buy an established online business. Because kick starting it is the major problem with lots of risks involved in it.

Cash Flow is the key for any business.. online or offline.

Ensure you have carried out in-depth market research into your business and it's target demographics as part of your business plan. Maximise your forms of income whether it be services, products, affiliate marketing or paid advertising.

Ensure you have lines of credit available to fall back on though stay within your financial means as it's easy to get carried away.

The first million is always the hardest!
