Well, all the domains I listed on eBay 10 days ago have all closed without a sale, though they did generate some decent traffic to my other sites.

Question to those who took advantage of the eBay listing fee sale: any luck selling your domains?

I've never sold an undeveloped domain on ebay, with one exception: w3linux.com... and that went for the minimum bid ($19.99) tho it got lots of views.

About 3 years ago, I sold lots of domains there in the $25 to $200 range, and had sell rates of maybe 40% with the first or second listing. It went downhill, and I haven't tried much since. A year or so ago, on a free listing day, I listed about 30 and sold none.

When I did list there, I actually got better response listing domains in the category of the use of the name rather than under domain names. For example, something like camerasales.com sold better when listed under cameras where photographers frequent, but not so well under domain names. Doing this is more likely to get a retail buyer rather than a wholesale reseller. As long as the title has "domain name", buyers will find it even if not listed under domains.

Good advice! I'm really only interestred in the retail domain market; it did not occur to me that a different category might produce better results. Of course, now that eBay is back to being the same old FEE BAY, I'll have to wait until the next sale to try this out!

:great:

Listed some domains and sold for the minimum. However, had a very bad experience last night when my charity package was removed for several violations in their eyes. To make a long story short, they accused me of trying to act as if I was selling on behalf of the charity - which I clearly stated I was making the sell then donating the money from the sell. What got me was the second part of the email.

I don't know what idiot removed my listing for this, but it told me that I didn't need to have hyperlinks in my auctions. Which, number one, the domains were listed as domain.com and there were no hyperlinks. Number two, how can I list domains without listing them in the auction? Needless to say they got a very, very angry email from me and I'm done with my domain business with them. Incompetence of the highest level IMHO.
