Any luck getting listed in Sedo's Top Domains ?

I noticed yesterday that there a few hyphen domains listed on sedo in their top domains category, in some countries (according to sedo) it is normal to have hyphens in a domain.

The ones on there just now are:

Ice-line_c o m (owned by Buydomains)

Chill-factor_ c o m - (owned by Buydomains)

Classic-tiles_c o m (NOT owned by above) with the following stats

DOMAIN STATISTICS:
Unique Visitors per month*: 15
Visitors to this Sedo Listing*: 53

I thought I would try one of my hyphen ones (edited) that has the following stats

DOMAIN STATISTICS:
Unique Visitors per month*: 77
Visitors to this Sedo Listing*: 162


I was surprised to get a very quick reply but I thought the answer sucked !

"Thank you for taking interest in our Top Domains List. Unfortunately, we
are unable to accept the domain "above" to our top domains list.

In order to be considered for the top domain list, the domain name must
exhibit certain qualities. For example, the domain name must be premium,
generic, and/or one-word."

Not a great answer considering they even have 3 word domains listed
( congrats Faisj )

I guess they all have totally different ideas as to what to list ? strange result considering that it is very common (almost normal) to have a hyphen after the word Eco

Any thoughts on this ? Have you had any luck getting listed ?

I thought that was something you had to pay for, but I guess not.

Do you have to submit a request to be considered, or do they search for ones they like and display them?

If submitting a request is the typical route, I may submit one or two.

I got 4 domains in there, they are Efinancial.co.uk, JPY.mobi, Practice.mobi and ForeignProperties.com. Most of the time they will only list it if you buy an appraisal, and sometimes they will list them if you submit them for consideration. But they don't just accept any domain into the list or else the list would be pointless.

Figures, gotta buy an appraisal. I understand not listing just any domain, then Sedo looks like a garbage dump, but there are quality domains there. The more exposure the quality domains get, the better for Sedo too.

"All listings in our Top Domains section are high quality domain names, hand-picked by dedicated Sedo employees.

Top Domains are featured within Sedo’s Domain Catalogue and also rotate through the Top Domains section on the homepage.In addition, Top Domains with sufficiently high levels of parking traffic receive additional exposure by being listed in Sedo’s High Traffic list.

A domain with the following criteria is more likely to qualify as a Top Domain:

The domain is short, a real word and is easy to remember.

It is a generic domain, e.g. like car.com, creditcard.com or books.com

The domain is easy to spell and not prone to typographical errors.

The domain is product-related and therefore has a high commercial value

The domain doesn’t violate any third party rights (e.g. trademark rights)

The TLD geographically matches the language of the domain name.

If you feel that one of your domain names fulfills all or most of the criteria listed above you can suggest the name for Sedo’s Top Domain section by emailing it to topdomains[at]sedo.com. Please note that it is in Sedo’s sole discretion whether a certain domain name gets accepted or not."


Well, it seems some people have managed to get 2 word hyphens and there is also one 3 word name I noticed.

Understood. I'm sure it helps nudge a few of the more questionable domains though. They may not ever list 68sef4684e_com no matter how many appraisals are purchased, but something more borderline they may consider.
