... in the US.

You can say whatever you want about Europe's much stricter weapon laws, but we rarely see events like this occur. Lot of Europeans don't understand why the US allows private gun possession, personally I would feel very unsafe in a society where every individual can possess a gun. Guns IMO belong to cops, army and security staff only. I wonder how much more of this sort of incidents need to pass before the American eyes will open and gun possession will be restricted.

And I wonder if any musician will be the scapegoat again this time...

RIP and my condolences to the friends and family of the victims. Very tragic incident.

To all Americans: private gun possession does not make a society safer. Hopefully politicians in the US will realise soon.

It's in our Second Amendment. We can't stop people who wish to buy arms for protection or what ever.

I guess if the laws were tweaked and become more strict, these college shootings will minimize.

RIP.

americans need to go back to fist fighting. People feel they either have to do nothing, or shoot up someone/people.

Where are the good old days where people just beat each other up and stopped before anyone died?
Silly second amendment :|

In any normal country in the world, laws are changed when people realise the law is doing more harm than wrong. Seriously, the US should change this weapon law better today than tomorrow. I have the impression that lot of Americans still believe in harsh defense methods, hence possession of laws and capital punishment are believed to deter crime. Both illusions and I hope sooner or later the nation will wake up and smell the coffee and change these outdated laws.

Again the slogan goes.....People Kill not Guns.

It isnt that often that an ammendment gets changed in the US. Other than the prohibition one.

And the right to bear arms is actually in the Bill of Rights. Many of the members of the congress would not pass the constitution unless the Bill of Rights were included. Many felt a threat from the former governments restraint on the people of letting them choose how they want to live. Such as to bear arms, religion, free speech, housing armed forces et cetera. Much of which the former governments would not allow the US to have. I think even though many people are against owning guns in the US would not want the ammendment to be changed.

De Kalb is only 2 hours from me and I've passed it many times on the way to visit family near Chicago. My sister went there for about a year 14 years ago, haven't been there to NIU since but always thought it was a peaceful campus. Would of never thought that something like that would happen there...but it's always the places you'd least suspect where something happens.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the De Kalb community and everyone who's been affected by this awful tragedy.
