.tv Announcing some big Geo pickups

Over the last few months I have been very active in the geo market space and have been buying up pure geo city names.

I am now at a point where I'm no longer buying and I am exploring various development opportunities so I'm ready to let my fellow domainers in on some of the activity and purchases to help accurately reflect the current marketplace.

I'm very bullish on geos and expect to continue to see prices climb and I have already received some offers on some names that I bought 3-4 months ago for twice what I paid.

As many of you know some major players have already entered the .TV geo space and a few more seem to be sniffing around. I will be sending this info over to Ron Jackson to list in the DN Journal with sales proof.

Over the last few months I've contacted almost EVERY owner of .tv city names in the top 200 markets and here is some of the fruits of my labor.

1. cincinnati.tv $5,000 was reged until 9/2011 and is $250 per year renewal
2. saltlakecity.tv $6,500 no premium fees reged until 5/2011
3. washingtondc.tv $7,500 no premium fees (I have since traded to another NP member for a package of other cities)
4. fortworth.tv $3,500 non premium (moved to another NP member)
5. daytonabeach.tv $2,500 non premium
6. keywest.tv $2,000 non premium
7. corpuschrisiti.tv $1,500 non premium
8. stpaul.tv $1,000 non premium
9. laredo.tv $1,000 non premium
10. cedarrapids.tv $400 non premium

I will be reporting more purchases in the not too far off future.

Poodleman..... sitting oh so quietly on the side. Trying not to make waves so he can buy up names without people trying to extract a fortune from him! Congrats you have done very well.

A very impressive list in your sig!

Why Cedar Rapids? There are much larger (and more interesting) towns in iowa then that one?

Aside from that, great names you got there.

All feedback appreciated.

As far as why ceddarrapids.tv for $400 because I like its longterm value as a non premium and I also have the following cities in Iowa:

cedarfalls.tv
councilbluffs.tv
dubuque.tv

which as a collection may make a nice overall value for a local player or if I pursue a national plan I can pool Iowa advertisers together to reach a wide area of the state.

As far as your question Equity: I'm not at liberty to reveal that info at this time.

Loredo?

Great pickups, I agree. But isn't it Laredo, as in Texas? Or is there a Loredo?

Wow! Great names! Now I wish I should have held out on a country sale I am going to announce soon.

Are cities in the USA better then country names IYO?

I think cities are better whether in the US or any other country Searching because it is hard to target and reach a whole country. When you focus on a city you can finely tune the advertising and the scope of the site IMO. If you have a country it can be very hard to get all those things right as you have vastly different areas throughout a whole country. IMO

Ok, thanks Eq. I feel better about my sale then. Although I do think all these city/country GEO names will continue to be going up in value, at some time you need to think ROI and be happy with the names you still have.

Congrats, you've pulled together a fantastic GEO portfolio and a great opportunity to harness scales of economy if you develop or sell for a premium as a package. Great Job.

Understood. Interesting to note the amount of Iowa names around here. Maybe it is the same for other states, and I only notice because I live in Iowa.

I own:

WestDesMoines.tv
Waukee.tv
Urbandale.tv
Ankeny.tv

Instead of going for bigger cities with population over 100K, I instead went for the town with the people with the highest income/fastest population growth/most money spent on infrastructure.
