Just want to announce a geo sale.

Seller was Fleaking, the master of quietly picking up nice GEOs

Buyer was me, adding to my Greece and Turkey collection (I am originally from Cyprus, so there is an emotional appeal to regional names).

Names were sold as a package, split as follows:

Ankara.tv $1,500
Santorini.tv $750

both names, non premium.

Cheers and thanks to Fleaking for a fast sale

WOW! I am very suprised! That is a whole lot for those names! If you compare it to the american geo sales earlier this year its absolutely insane! LOL I know prices have risen but american geos usually deman a premium - I mean compare it to Detroit.tv for example! I geuss prices are rising! Of course it always depends on what the buyer is looking for, I congratulate everyone involved.

I agree with you DomainAcrobat. A couple of clarifications:

1 / As you said, American GEOs are far better than foreign GEOs IMO, in terms of how easy it will be to advertise them

2 / Detroit was one of the best buys of the year, IMO

3 / Given the early stage of .tv, pricing is bordering on random. Look at the 30x difference in price between MyrtleBeach and VirginiaBeach. Certainly there is no explanation for that

4 / I have a unique situation re: Greece, Turkey. I have a very strong collection in the area already (Greek.tv, Turkey.tv, Istanbul.tv, Rhodes.tv, Ios.tv, Crete.tv, Paros.tv and more) and I have an office in Cyprus so I can justify a 500-1500 price for a great regional name since I believe I can ultimately develop it effectively. (since I am in the area)

5/ So this is a bit of a special situation; I would not necessarily conclude that the foreign GEO market has taken a quantum leap upward.

For example, I would not have paid more than 1/5 of that for the equivalent caliber GEO in South America because of all the usual difficulties regarding developing or reselling foreign GEOs.

Excellent response......unique situation as with MyrtrleBeach and LocalExperts.

I am sure Antonis, you will make very good use of both names in due course

Best of luck with it

Congratulations Antonis...

On May 2nd, I checked Istanbul.TV to see its price and availability as it was a premium name, but unfortunately I was late, and again, it was reg.ed by you! I should have checked it on May 1st, the very first day for premium names... Now you have Ankara??? Well, I should admit that YOU ARE AMAZING! I wish you lots of luck with all those Turkish names and with others...

I know the old reg fee of Istanbul.TV before eNom took over, but I couldn't find out the new price as it was taken by you when I checked... I'm really curious... Do you mind if I ask the new price?

BTW, I registered SMYRNA.TV a few days ago - as you may know it's the ancient name of Izmir (the third largest city of Turkey - also my hometown). When I checked it some time ago, it wasn't available. I guess the owner didn't want to renew it, and I'm surprised you didn't reg. it either! ;)

Best :)
