Today i got this mail: ( through the fabulous.com sell system )

An offer has been made to buy cheapnaturalgas.com

Offer Details

Domain:
cheapnaturalgas.com

Name:
<name removed for the person privacy>

Email:
<email removed for the person privacy>

Offering Price:
$1.99

I don't understand why people won't do any research first, before they offer a price...

As such i replied:

Dear Mr.
<name removed for the person privacy>,

As you may know cheapgas.com was sold at 6/21/2005 for a price of $150.000,- ( Source: DN Journal )

Cheap Natural Gas is becoming a huge topic as you may have seen at Google: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=cheap+natural+gas&btnG=Google+Search

As such I would like to ask you to state a price/offer accordingly.

I hope to hear from you soon.

Kind regards,

Faizal Siddiqui

How do you handle such emails?

They may have just made a mistake, but even if it was $199, that's way too low.

It'll be interesting to see how they reply to your email. Keep us posted.

I wouldn't even respond at all. Why bother?

It's not that he didn't tdo research, it's that he's obviously a joker wasting your time.

Sure, it could be a typo. Maybe he meant $199 but I seriously doubt it.

Using "99"n a price is only good if you are selling. WHo on earth would offer $199 instead of just an even $200? I don't know, maybe it's just me.

maybe they think 1.99 a gallon is the going rate of cheap gas.

just reply politely asking if it is a price mistake.

Why not make the offer? What does he have to lose?
Instead of telling a potential buyer that they should offer accordingly why not just tell them a BIN price?
You are the seller. The (potential) buyer is a client and should be treated as such.

I do agree with EbookLover. It is not normal case!

i either would of responded with a BIN price. But your response was good to.

I think its very hard for this domain to give a BIN price.

Exactly.
If you can't determine a BIN price then all offers are valid.
This person may have been pulling your chain but at the end of the day it's better to either ignore him or counter offer.

If I am looking for a domain to buy form a marketplace, I never expect to ever pay less than reg fee so I never ask a price lower than reg fee. Maybe that's just me but iI though that is the way most domainers thought. If I want to unload a domain at a loss, I will do it on NP as a low price auction like a dollar or as an NP$ auction. Not on SEDO or other marketplaces like it.

I will simply discard the email...

I wouldn't waste my time replying. Instead I would send an Email to Chris Chena and let him know your domain is for sale, even if he doesn't bite at least he is aware. [email protected]

What with all the Gas News in Russia, Ukraine and today Georgia the domain must be of value to someone.

Hi DOMiNIC,

I mailed Chris about the domain.
Is he also active at Namepros?
