Busch Gardens, Sister Parks To Open In Mideast

Busch Entertainment Corp., which operates Busch Gardens in Tampa, plans to build four theme parks in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Busch officials said today in Orlando that the company plans to open Busch Gardens, Discovery Cove, SeaWorld and Aquatica theme parks in the Middle Eastern city on a man-made island called The Palm Jebel Ali.

The first phase of the project is expected to open in 2012, Busch officials said.

The company selected Dubai for the massive project because it is one of the fastest-growing tourism destinations in the world, officials said.

Busch is planning to open a water theme park in Orlando called Aquatica. It also plans to open the Busch Gardens Tampa Jungala attraction April 5.
