Am I considered unprofessional, a 'possible scammer or spammer' because I use a Yahoo! email instead of @mydomain.com?

Note: I have not had any bad experiences but I'm just wondering. If I email people about buying their domain will they not respond because of this?

If someone emails me about buying a domain name i will write back as long as they dont say anything that makes me strongly feel its an aprasial scam. Doesnt bother me if someone uses a Yahoo email.

I don't think it is unprofessional. However, some people may see the "Yahoo", and think it is spam.

It all depends on the sincerity of the conversation. There are plenty of BS artists around with "custom" domain names as email address and plenty of decent, good folks that use Yahoo/Hotmail/Gmail...and of course, vice-versa.
Professionalism is not dependent on the extension of ones email...

Your fine Hurley.

Personally though I send emails from my @DomainSubway account. I know that everyone has there own opinions and think they will get the best deal buy acting like it's your first purchase, blah blah blah. I play it straight and simple, from my domain and they know I am a professional. If they are interested then great, if not, on to the next domain.

I will say it right now, a bunch of people will disagree with what I just said.

Let me give you an example from my previous company and why I think it's relevant. I buy houses for cash, if I drive up in a Honda Civic or a Hummer, which one do you think they will take more serious? They will take the Hummer more serious because they know I have money!!! Just because I have money does not take away my ability to negotiate.

Take that example and compare it to a free yahoo/gmail or whatever account and a custom made website. I personally pick the person with the professional website. They have spent the money and taken the time to at least put up a web presence/store front.

I tend to shy away from Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, etc. Guess it comes from experience. Certainly isn't unprofessional, in my opinion.

On the other hand, I use the same generic email address for several enhansed parked domains and sometimes wonder if people get suspicious that the email does not reflect the domain they are visiting. Anyone have an idea on that?

That is fine, maybe create one domain that is the business for all. The majority of my sites all say project by Domain Subway, LLC and link to that email address.

I use a separate email address for business that is not one of a free email provider. Just use one of your own domains on Google Apps for email. It's free and you use your own domain.

It's easy to do, you just have to configure your MX records.

Not if you spread the renewals evenly among the 12 months.
And let say, each domain is earning $1 a month. Thats $90,000 revenue a month!
