Have been with my host for more than a year now. I am paying $7 a month and this is what I get:
50mb, 2Gig transfer and all these:
http://www.skydio.com/sg/products/skyhost_specs.html

Having look through this forum and others as well, I am seeing $2 - $10 per month offering almost the same technical specs.. Can anyone tell me if I am over-paying?
Anybody got a better deal?

Webmail is important to me. It must have a nice interface. Not the standard Horde, Neo and Squrrel type..

Many thanks:)

lol, what you need to find out is

1. how old is your host? are they even an adult?

2. what datacenter do they use?

3. what do they allow on their servers?

4. how long have they been in business?

5. where exactly are they physically located?

6. do a search at wht to see if they are on the ban list!

7. are they just a reseller or do they have their own servers

8. are their servers overcrowded

9. do they oversell?

how do you do that?

1. how old is your host? are they even an adult?
(ask, the majority will tell)

2. what datacenter do they use?
(do a tracert)

3. what do they allow on their servers?
(read their tos)

4. how long have they been in business?
(whois MAY work, or archive, or ask)

5. where exactly are they physically located?
(contact info, no contact info? keep walking)

6. do a search at wht to see if they are on the ban list!
(inquire at wht)

7. are they just a reseller or do they have their own servers
(whois.sc/domainname, also send them an email to their domain email, read the headers when it comes back and look for something like this...
Received: from critical.proprietaryservers.com
(critical.laurenstephens.net [IP ADDRESS])

8. are their servers overcrowded
(ask how many are on the server, also do a reverse DNS that COULD help)

9. do they oversell?
(look at their tos and also if they allow reseller accounts they more than likely, but not always, oversell. overselling is not always a bad thing)

Yes you are over paying. But The reply you got from your host should also be considered. I always use hosting with servers located in america, even though iam from india, since i get at rock bottom prices from americans.
And you must also consider, wether online business is your main business. Since online business is an hobby for me i always use cheap servers and shift frequently. But if you have a stable and main online business, you always go for reliability with Great service even though the price is high.

Yes you are overpaying...

You can find hosts that are cheaper and provide the same quality of service. Or they may give you more limits for the same price.

But I think people stay away from those places simply because they are unsure, even when the service is perfect. At least that is my experience

I could offer you a better deal than that sure and I actually own my hosting company an am not a amid reseller like most in this forum. But the question is: Are you satisfied with your service and support? If you are then I would nay no your not over paying.
Stick with them!
