I was searching some threads when I found something interesting about the .web tld. Somebody said that it either was or is provided by an alternative root provider. What is that? I've search the threads, but to no vail.
An alternative Tld is one that is not Approved by ICANN
such as .web ,.tech
They only work if your ISP or other Internet DNS NameServer has knowledge of the TLD
More info on alternative TLD's is available from http://new.net
... which most ISP's do not. So instead, companies like new.net encourage users to download their plugin, sometimes surreptitiously via spyware like kazaa. 99% of internet users don't have the plugin, and regard them as spyware when discovered, and hence deleted.
