All standard domain extensions $1.99 1st yr. at Yahoo. Any deal?

http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/domains/index.php?p=BESTDEAL

It says complete dns control and forwarding. 1.99 is nothing, has to be some bad with this right?

I want to register several domains, .com and .net especially that I plan to use for own sites with ads. I guess there is no push so it probably won´t bother me. But apart from that, something just has to be bad behind this low price, anyone who knows?

I'm sure there's no very convenient "free push" feature, and my guess is that the price goes up in year #2 -and- it's likely not very easy to transfer upon sale, IMHO.

Please keep us posted, thanks much!

You can only get one domain at this price.

It's as good/bad as Godaddy, same domain features.

The privacy protection service can be added for $9.

:hi:

What Jeff said and a whole lot more negatives.

Just do a search in the forums.

It's really not worth it.

It's supposed to be limited to just one domain.

Not knowing that, a couple of years ago I regged over a dozen domains
but they were regged one at a time.

I'm not sure how you can compare them to GoDaddy.

Have you ever registered any domains with Yahoo (Melbourne IT)?

You cannot easily get the Auth Code.

If you transfer out and don't know that you are supposed to cancel
the domain, you will be charged for a phantom renewal.

Good luck getting a refund.

I have registered many domains with Yahoo for 5 years each.

It's actually very easy to find your auth code at the bottom of yahoo domain control panel (see the attachement)

Don't waste your time or money with Yahoo, that'd be my advice. You're gonna have trouble when trying to get out & the 2nd year will be a lot more expensive. My advice is to stick with a reputable company that charge between $6 to $9.

:hi:

That must be new because you could not get the Auth Code before.

I had about 22 domains there and wanted the Auth Code.

Yahoo customer service would not email the auth codes.

I had to get them one by one over the telephone which was quite awkward when you consider the format the Auth Codes come in with random capitals and lower case letters and sound alike consonants.

I'm glad your experience with Yahoo was good.

Just realize there are way too many people who do not share your positive experience.

It's good to give both sides so someone reading this thread can then proceed accordingly.

Happy domaining,
Patrick

I never got a response from them, even after repeated emails. That is not good.
