You are probably the only one. plenty of people don't do their own research and come to threads like this for their information.

Do we really need the extensive lists of .net names posts, am I the only one to find them distracting/annoying?
I mean day upon day of them...

Link to a file or something, maybe.

I'm not even sure what you're referring to.... djum's earlier screen capture showing bids on almost all of the net chips? I thought that was wholly appropriate.

LLLL.com Buyout >>> LLLL.net Buyout >>>> LLLL.net Buyout Failed

So careful when you invest. Most of the bidders, bidding in Godaddy Expired auctions are domainers like us. Not the potential end users.

Same is true of LLLL.com... but that hasn't hurt the return on those who held one bit.

Ok I'm going to blame it on bad coffee. I just got annoyed when a slight breeze came into the room.

As of right now I only see 1 chinese LLLL.net in their auctions section. Does this mean that they are going uncontested on DropCatch and only getting 1 backorder each?

Not necessarily, but, most likely discount backorders. With those the highest pre bid from $15 to $58 gets the name. No auction

There is another level, which is DropCatch's "partners" who have priority over discounts but not $59+ orders.

As Nat pointed out, this is the same scenario for LLLL.com.. Let's face it - Most LLLL.com's will never reach end users. The current LLLL.net buyout is not so much for crappy domains, only for Chinese premium's and soon to be CVCV.net's (I believe)..... I don't think there will be an actual LLLL.net buyout for quite some time. In fact, some premium LLLL.net domains will probably find end users much easier than some of the crappy LLLL.com domains out there. Most of those will just get passed from one reseller to another - probably forever.

It's basically how economy works.

When group of people agrees that something has value it starts having this value. Take ancient example with gold. It's not something useful as TV, computer, phone or food. But long time ago people agreed that it has value, and it's still being used as for that purpose in trade. Why? Different metals are more useful, say for example iron, people could use it to make weapons, but it's everywhere and gold is rare enough. There's other rare metals you say. yes, but people agreed to gold and you can compare it to .com that is the king due to traditions of Internet.

Chinese LLLL.net will have value as long as domainers will make think so and keep buying it, and in China they were doing it last few months.

Anyone can point out to any readings regarding what are the ultra premium Chinese letters?

I read somewhere Z, X, Y, S, C, Q etc are, and I'll like to read more.

Thanks.

There are posts by @yogiDomain and @DotCN much earlier in this thread, I believe, that go into a little detail. They're probably somewhere in the first 5 pages.

My limited understanding is that there are 7 fundamental PinYin letters: J, Q, X, Z, C, S, and R.

And I think that @DotCN has said either here or elsewhere that from his research C, D, H, J, S, T, X, Y, and Z are the top consonants in use in China.

So, that's a start -- others here may be able to add more nuance.

That is true even for LLL.com. Plenty are still in the hands of domainers, changing hands on the occasion (from one domainer to another), which implies there has been no end user so far, interested enough to pay the asking price.

We have seen before what happens when a bubble takes shape on the domainer market, the first sign is the 'buyout', followed by irrational inflation of trade value.
Inevitably, somebody will be left holding the bag and will be dropping en masse later after running out of funds (and too few sales). Then somebody else will pick up where the others left.
Buying at peak value makes it more likely you will be in the position described above.

I basically agree but as it happens in financial markets the problem is that you almost never know when a peak is reached. So the choice of buying today is just a matter of market analysis and perspectives for the sector.

For example who sold the worst LLLL.com when they reached $40 lost, at today, 100% of potential gains on the reseller market, maybe more.
