MillionDollarHomepage - Part 2

I just received an email from Alex Tew saying that he has set up a second milliondollarhome PixelLotto.com. This time it costs $200 a square, not $100 a square. Since I previously bought pixels, I have access to buy them this week while most people don't. I bought 4 squares before and linked them to random domains and sold the domains for a profit but kept VURG.com.

Since I am not in a rush to spend money, I don't think I will purchase any this time. However, I thought that maybe somebody here may be interested. The best time to get the pixels is ASAP as now is the best range of choices and so I may be able to help somebody buy 4 of the first pixels. PM me if interested.

It looks legit but because the launch date is Dec 5, there is nothing to see just yet.

1 across, 5&6 Down. I have a copycat idea site that I call ladderadvertising. I will put a little ladder there.

What do you thinks best?
Black on White
Black on Red
White on Red
Red on White
Black on Red
Red on Black

55 spots taken. $11,000 in 3 hours.

Maybe wait and see what some of the surrounding ads look like? I think you should see what lime green on black looks like. That could stand out as well. :)

Otherwise Black on White is good, Red on Black, or Red on White.

Total waste of money.....

The first site was unique, novel and got worldwide press coverage... The second is just a lame copy and will not get a billionth of the traffic the first page did...

Ive no doubt a proportion of the page will sell (to past buyers) and then perhaps that will be the last we ever hear of young Alex... imho

Beware with this one guys.. Why not wait to see how things go before buying? It was already a worldwide phenomenon when we bought our square. I think i would use the same philosophy again this time

remember - "Fools rush in where Angels fear to tread"

but this 1.000.000 dollar "giveaway" in my opinion gives some chance to this site :)

That may be true Badger, but it's going to be a news story again because it is successful again. It's certainly nothing new, but he's paying $7,000+ a month to a publicist from the getgo on this one. It's bound to get some news or she wouldn't have taken him on as a client again.

There are almost 100 spots sold already, which is just under $20,000 USD....

I appreciate your advice. It is good to hear everyones opinion. At $200 a square, there is a lot of money to be lost. I only just broke even with my squares on the milliondollarhomepage.

This is why I think that this has merit:
~$20000 in sales in the first few hours gives it some story to go on
45% of the money being reinvested looks good for growth potential
The 1st one sold out in months
5% of the money going to charity
50% of the money going as a prize.

That said, now is the time to buy, after the launch it is a lot more risky. The better spots will be taken.

The people that will be attracted will want advertising or free stuff. If your not selling advertising or giving away free stuff, then you may not want to advertise there.

Looks like this time around the ads are NOT permanent:

Here's part of the terms:

"Round" the period starting on the Commencement Date and ending one Month following the Trigger Date;
"Term" as defined in clause 12.1;
"Trigger Date" means the earlier of:
i) the date on which all of the Advertising Spaces in the Grid have been sold by the Company for the relevant Round; or
ii) the twelve Month anniversary of the Commencement Date; and
"Website" the worldwide Internet website of the Company identified by the URL www.pixelotto.com

And then lower down a bit:

2.1 For each Round the Company will make available one million pixels (the "Pixels") for the hosting of Advertisements for the Duration. The Pixels will be in a grid hosted on the Website (the "Grid"). The Pixels will be made available in blocks of one hundred (100) Pixels each (the "Advertising Spaces"). Each Advertising Space will measure ten Pixels by ten Pixels (10x10).

So they hope to keep doing this again and again and again and again and again.

You can't resell the advertising spots now. What about domains that the advertising spots point to?

Anyone expect that they will compete for the prize?

AlexTew's new million dollar making idea

The new Alex Tew (milliondollarhomepage.com creator) idea and website is:
http://pixelotto.com

See the email sent to previous advertisers:

I have some very exciting news I'd like to share with you.

Next week, on 5th December, I am launching a new venture called 'Pixelotto'.
It's similar to The Million Dollar Homepage only this time I will be giving away $1,000,000!

It's all based around pixel advertising and generating big traffic for advertisers. Visitors play for free - all they have to do is click on the ads for chances to win the jackpot. The more they click, the more chances they have - and the more traffic you receive.

As a valued customer of The Million Dollar Homepage, I'd like to give you an exclusive opportunity to purchase advertising space on Pixelotto before the site goes public. The world will be watching next week and this is your chance to get on-board before everyone else.

The following link will give you exclusive access to Pixelotto, where you can buy ad space right now:

http://www.pixelotto.com/____________

If you have any questions don't hesitate to e-mail me and my team at [email protected]

I look forward to welcoming you on-board for this new pixel adventure!

Cheers,

Alex Tew

a lot of typos and EXT are already registred for "pixelotto" name

Sites like Alex Tew's have had their day in my opinion, no matter what you do it's never going to be as unique as Tew's, those kind of sites are one off's.

with this guy's popularity and the giving 1 milion idea added, it has chances to fly IMO

these types of sites are still money-makers. Look at www.linkexperiment.com. The guy has made 11 grand this year so far and its growing. Remember, traffic is value, so if you have an idea, and it is interesting enough, then you will get the traffic and therefor people will pay for an ad. This is the same idea behind forum sites and other content sites. I dont understand why there are so many doubters in the face of so much proof. I agree that copy sites (and there are more of them than pixils on the alex's original page :hehe: ) do not make money because they are not a story and therefor nobody cares. But if you come up with something that is interesting enough to spread the word, than this formula will still work. Traffic = Money.

Just thought on the subject.

I thought I had seen this idea a few places before ... clicking on the ads for a chance to win.

His reputation will earn the bucks, rather than the idea. It will get huge publicity, as would any 'idea' for a site he came up with.

I would buy a spot I reckon.

Following all the hype, instead of registering similar domains I just created a site to track this story.

I will post everything there :)

I agree too. This was the major reason for his success from the first place
If no TV and other big media companies didn't show this idea to the public he would be still with few pixels blocks

After this i believe everything is possible to this area

This sounds like another great thing, but not unique, not sure if something else will be done with this one as well. whois.sc shows Pixelotto.org, .info, .biz,.us all avail. why is this?
