discuss .AL Extension

It seems today there has been more auctions for .AL domains than I have seen in my entire time on NamePros. Any particular reason? What are your opinions on the extension?

however, what I said was true that if you want to have strong opinion about it, you have to be ready to receive accusations like you made on me. it's only fair.

so whats yoru thing? are you affiliated with .al registrars and you are getting money everytime someone registrars .al domains? what motivates you to go so out of your way to accuse publically complete strangers, ruin their reputation, just because they say they see no potential in an extension?

It gathered exactly 15 clicks and no signup.

I can give you another screenshot showing that I do have lots of registration activity in the account with same id. Or invoices, or something like that. I will only need to black out the domain names.

However, yes, I do have special reg. pricing and I always had it after I asked them.

What drives me?
Simple: I find your activity on this thread weird considering you have strong opinions against .al
I also have some .al domains that I would prefer to sell at an honest price. I don't want the value artificially driven down by the opinion of one guy who shows weird activity.

I obviously don't need any invoices or such from you. you just do your thing and I hope you do well in it. I was simply curious about the motivation behind your vicious attack on me. I guess we should stop this now, or we'll both get suspended from namepros for this chatter.

I hope I am wrong in saying only LL/NN will succeed. and yet, that is my prediction and opinion on it, and that's what I will stick to. cause that's what opinioins are for. to each his own.

.al seems to have good possibilities for domain hacks. I think those brandable .al domains that are solid hacks could be saleable.

In my opinion, .al is worth a look simply because it's a European TLD. In Europe the ccTLDs tend to rule but there are disparities from one country to another.
However, the .al TLD is not very mature presently.
it is a small market, and Albania is among the poorest countries of Europe.

Albania is already a member of NATO and it is candidate for EU membership. But this is not for the near future (and assuming the EU has not disintegrated in the meantime).
There is good potential in tourism too.

I would personally NOT set my sights on domain hacks or the mystical Chinese end user. Instead, consider domain names that could appeal to local end users. LL/LLL are always popular for use as corporate acronyms.
Obviously you need a long-term horizon here.

Keep in mind that the TLD is still immature, thus it cannot command high prices. And it will always be a small market.

1000% profit is not much, it's just flipping. Maybe it's possible from a domainer to another. I have never sold a .al domain yet, so I don't know if there are many end users right now. I have sold names in tiny ccTLDs, but not in .al yet.

Since .al is still embryonic, there is a lot of room for growth. But the rise is going to be slow.
The only problem for investors is time.

I think because it's a small market, we should invest in .al . From year to year the online market has grown, and the market is considering the online promotion as an inevitable thing. One thing i read about the Albanians is that, they trend to use more international words instead of albanian ones. Anyway, i am linkink here an article which i came cross. I feel .al isnt a bad investment at all because the reg price is not high than other extension. I wish Godaddy and other well known registrar offer this extension too than it will become more value.

I have invested in one .al name, but not for the sake of hopeful Chinese interest. The extension itself has a vowel in it, and except for tlds like com & net that are vastly more popular, might that inhibit potential chip value?

Nope, they don't.

I have actually read some very interesting articles about the two cultures in China with respect to domain name investing. One, is the older Chinese domain investor that holds true to Chinese beliefs about vowels, zeroes, fours and such. The other is the young Chinese domain investor that does not hold to these cultural beliefs as strongly.

This is why there sometimes seems like there is inconsistency in what investments Chinese domain investors are making. There are different types of Chinese domain investors.
