discuss .AL Extension

It seems today there has been more auctions for .AL domains than I have seen in my entire time on NamePros. Any particular reason? What are your opinions on the extension?

.al started very good actually.
Xona domain hacks lists more than 14000 domain hacks under the zone only for english, but I came to learn that the ending is used for domain hacks in Turkish and probably some other Indian/Pakistani language. So only domain hacks have a potential.
There is the usual seo effect, where search engines penalize cctlds, but this is something that might change if the zone gets more traction, just as it has changed for tlds such as .ad or .io.

@alcy , I understand your standing point which I am totally agree. LL / NN always value to people and if that extension ccTLD isnt a dead island or a place that no one know. Then it should add the value more into it. Trust me, when some of people found out about .CH, over hundreds of NNN still available and then all gone shortly. With that said, that extension cost more than .AL and people still jump into it.

I understand you also. however, to me it is not about how many people do buyouts of this or that domain or extension. there can be many reasons for buyouts. not all of them good ones.

this is only my opinion. but people jumping on things and doing buyouts is not something I participte in.

all NN.al are good. I recently sold 77.mk and 88.mk and after the transaction was completed, the chinese buyer hand registered all left NN.mk. So chinese love NNs

.al domains are no different than other domains. They will be more and more valuable as time goes on. Any opportunity I get to register LL or NN ccTLD domains, I will take.

I believe short, memorable or patterned domains will increase in value regardless of extension. I do, however, prefer ccTLD much more than gTLD. That's why I like .al

I like it up to LL. then I do not like it.
and I have the right to it. and you have right to opposite if you want to.

I am not sure I understand how this is about honor or respect and not about .al extension. if you wish to have a personal discussion with me, please pm and we can invite the moderator to it. i was instucted by moderator not to carry personal disussion on thread earlier. ty.

Yes, there are pretty deep discounts for those who have many .al domains with host-al.
If you get to the point where you need to renew or register in bulk PM me and I'll tell you how to get that discount - or at least how I got it.

Now, @alcy: I was simply saying that I know you are a honorable and respected member here on NP. You make some valid points, come up with interesting / intelligent ideas and help others on other threads (still not sure this one counts). I am also sure you know and agree it is not ethically okay to use this influence you might or might not have to try and drive the market value of "assets".
Knowing this I am sure your strong opinions against .al were not expresses hoping that the end result would be for certain persons to freak out and sell way cheaper than they should have to some unnamed investor. You were only expressing your own opinion but you happen to have strong opinions.

I have no idea. I'm in the US. Based on the bidding here on NP, you could wait a month then put it up for auction here. There has been plenty of bidding on good NN.al and LL.al.

well yes you are entitled to strong opinions. but then you have to be ready to be accused of same things you are accusing others. are you ready to be accused of trying to drive market value of .al domains?

Actually I do see LL.al on NP auctions but not NN.al yet. I would interest to see the value once NN.al step into auction .

el.al has had 42 recorded offers on sedo. LL.al should do fine. IMHO

I think that for corporate uses, .al can also be used for many domain name hacks. I think this is why the .al domains on Sedo get offers.

2. I did not accuse you of anything. I was simply saying that your posts can be interpreted as such. I was giving you the opportunity to just say "Yes dude, I'm a guy with strong opinions, I have no other interest."
3. You can accuse me of whatever you want. If you read through my posts you could realize that I might have driven the value down just by being honest about it when my interest would have been to drive it up.

No, it opened some time at the end of 2014 if I remember correctly.

@UXela thanks for giving out the info. I think no matter what, the LL / NN of .al will raise the value very soon. As I remember back in time like a year ago some LL of some ccTLD sold in good reseller price of mid $xxx to high $xxx too.

For that, I believe get any LL / NN of .al at the reasonable price right now while you can or else once the heat pump up .. you can't touch it.

I am not sure it would rise in a spectacular manner.
All I know is that as of today I am break-even on my .al investment without accounting for the (most likely one-off) sale I mentioned here.
Everything that comes after this is bonus for me
