I have been away on business for the past few days and have had limited access to the web, usual check my emails etc but thats about it.

So today upon my return on a flight home after hearing about all of this tragic news about the Air France Crash I instantly did a whois and Im not surprised to see someone has snapped up.

Airfrancecrash.com - Air France Crash

AirFranceCrash.com, .net, .org & .info through GD.

I dont know if the guy is a domainer or who he is but the question I have to ask is why?

What makes you want to own this type of domain?

What can you do with it?

Would Air France shut you down?

Is it morally correct to own or operate these names?

At present the names are sitting in GD parking but I just dont get why someone would register this?

Anyone got any thoughts?

Regards,

Rob

The only one pandering here is you. I tried not to personally attack you but you were waiving your ignorance flag so much that it begged to be addressed. I don't really wish you ill, I wish you a better attitude and education. You don't need to make money off the dead in this industry. You'll probably a lot more money doing things proper.

PS. your analogies don't help your cause.

Hahaha, hit a nerve? I find this whole forum a hilarious Joke, I'm being banned apparently because of these posts, proof that you're unable to have an opinion that isn't the same as the moderators. I'm not "digging", I just hoped that with some relevant examples you'd realise how stupid you're being.

What I'm trying to say is that it's entirely reasonable to expect people to register domains, whatever happens and there's absolutely nothing wrong with it. Oh sure, boo hoo don't do it, it's bloody business and it happens, get over it, whining will do nothing. It's not much of a leap between profiting off of tragedy and profiting off other peoples needs, when you register "cat.com" with no intention of using it you're just as bad. Get over yourself and your ridiculous "I'm better than you because I care" attitude, stop trying to justify your ridiculous attitude.

I haven't read a single post in this thread yet. as soon as I saw the domain, I had to reply... with the titluar question: Why? I thought this was an appraisal thread at first... I was gonna b*tch at the owner. This is in such bad taste... fortunately, it'll die away, the buzz about the crash and all. But this is still horrible :(

Explain what's wrong with these posts? The first one I was saying how people are scared of disagreeing with others here as it seems to be a "taboo" thing to do, the second I disagreed with what he said and felt it was a stupid post so I negatively repped him.

Is this not the point of the neg rep system?

Lol we obviously are not on the same wave lengh and I am not a person that bothers to linger talking to negative people..

maybe she's learned something over the years you've yet to, how to be kind, she's been plenty kind to me and others on the forum in the past and will continue to do so after you've proved that doesn't matter how many good people you have in an industry there's always gonna be those who will steal their grandmothers last change if they can get away with it.

BTW Domainers have ethics. Well, REAL ones do, anyway. Read through this thread: http://www.namepros.com/domain-name-discussion/320317-how-sickening-another-ebayer-trying-make.html What the hell is wrong with some ppl?

Yes, because registering a domain from a tragedy is the same as stealing your grandmas change, or stamping on a cancer victim. Explain what's wrong with this, besides "It's immoral", that's the only reply I've seen here from naysayers.

If they were registering 911.com and put "LOL DEAD AMERICANS LOL" then of course, that's disgusting but an information site on the tragedy or a memorial site? I find it disgusting that you'd sell domains for charity!!1111!!!!!!!

... they might want to point those nameservers somewhere other than Godaddy parking D-:!
Agreed! They should unpark it and live up to their mission statement. Until then, they're the same ilk as scumbag squatters.

Isn't this thread about an AirFrance related domain??

And isn't there a 'teen' section for those to share their 'seasoned' experiences and knowledge?

That reasoning would agree with someone who accidentally runs a person over is the same as someone who chases an old woman down in their car and repeatedly drives over her face.

I'm not discussing morals or the right to do anything if it's not illegal, all I am pointing out is that Mellow has proved to me she means well whereas you are travelling in the opposite direction.

As for the name, personally, I'd rather not reg a name that would have relatives of the deceased thinking that a $5 profit made on the death of their loved one was a fitting epitaph.

It's not illegal, it's just not something everyone would do, clearly you would.

Discussion and conversation evolve, this conversation has evolved into what it is now. Also, neg rep for insinuating that teenagers opinions are less valid than adults.

and how did you come to that conclusion? I'd never register such a domain because I'm too slow, I register domains that I have the intention of developing, I don't register for the sake of profit - like most people here do, including mellow. My point is that it's unreasonable to expect nobody to register it and calling them scum is ridiculous, it's only a small step from what you guys already do. You register domains before other users with the intent of taking money from them, more than it cost you to buy the domain originally, I'd call that extortion :)

it's exploiting people for money. I have no problem with it, those that say you do are in the wrong business.

You've already proved you have little difficulty with a willingness to extort, you have yet to prove otherwise for others here.

I'm sorry but you're as bad as mellow, ANSWER THE POINTS THAT I RAISE don't just reply saying I'm a terrible person. Also, where have I "extorted" anyone? hmmm.

I didn't say it you did.

I didn't say it you did.

once again you avoid it entirely, nice work being totally spineless and unable to reply to my legitimate points.

What's even funnier is mellowmasher is going to get annoyed and have me banned then you'll all sit around smashing at your keyboards "haw haw he was such an idiot!!! I'm glad he's banned!!!!" because you can't handle someone having a different opinion.

If you have points to make and they are not being addressed maybe that's an indication that you should make your points clearer without resorting to insults.

I've not insulted you as far as I know, show me where I have, please. The reason my points aren't being addressed is because you can't accept that what you're doing is just as wrong and enjoy being on your moral high horse, let me guess, you're a christian?

What exactly am I doing that's wrong? I have no issue with people having a different opinion than I do, it seems though seing as I have a different opinion to you I am branded an extortionist spineless christian with no evidence to provide for such an assertion. I wonder who is actually being closed minded here?

That reasoning would agree with someone who accidentally runs a person over is the same as someone who chases an old woman down in their car and repeatedly drives over her face.
The registrant claims to be a "Strategic communications firm specializing in crisis communications, media relations and public affairs" yet parks a crisis domain to earn revenue - something is off.
