May I doublecheck my understanding with you?

Sales Price: $100

less:
Sales fee $60
Mbrship $20
Reg fee $10
Paypal $5 (5% of $100)

Profit $5

Thus a first sale of $100 at Afternic gives only $5 revenue to the seller?

Puzzled first-timer...

I am not sure about the fee structure, but Afternic is not really designed for $100 sales.

There are plenty of other options to sell $100 names. Namepros, eBay, TDnam, etc.

Thank you!

I was reading on sedo and thought i will share the results of my own research, for what it is worth

Sales: $100

less:
sales fee: $10
mbrship: -
reg fee: $10
paypal: $5

profit: $75

conditions:
(1) must park with sedo otherwise min charge of $60 applies

(2) difficult to sell in sedo because:

(a) someone must first make you an offer before you can put it in an auction...which is a chicken and egg situation if your domain does not get traffic...however once you are in a sedo auction, you are guaranteed a sale (since you already got an offer)

(b) put in a fixed price and hope that someone will offer it...again someone still need to be able to find your domain...but here the sale close immediately

...

Afternote: the minimum priced domain in afternic are all above $60

On Sedo , You also have to worry about different extensions being more expensive to sell - Or at least it was that way the last time I checked ;)

As bmugford stated , Most of those type venues aren't ideal for small sales or transactions. Ruins your ROI ~

Thanks again!

I guess i will stick to those mentioned by bmugford and the rest of you guys.

I did not realize that TDNAM is GoDaddy's. Will check this and eBay out. Thanks.

Very interesting post about afternic. Very fun to read :D Sorry they take all your money.

With SEDO you have to worry about no one paying you ever and its ok with SEDO. Or they mark your account that the buyer payed you but they didn't, etc, etc, etc. Talk to most people her who have sold domains on sedo before using them. Thats just my 2 cents.

For TDNAM:

Sales: $100

less:
Sales fee: $5
Mbr: $5
Reg Fee: $10
Paypal: $5

Profit: $75

Conditions:
(1) Sales above $500, escrow.com services are used...no mentioned of escrow costs that i could find

(2) Sales below $500, TDNAM will collect the money on your behalf and release it to you once the transfer is completed

Seems selling is not that easy

...

Do you think it is possible that after the sale is completed, the buyer can get paypal to reverse the sale?

If so, then the escrow services are not really useful, right?

I will check out on eBay later and report here.

eBay

Sales $100

less:
Sales fees:
ID Verified by ebay $5 (one-time)
Insertion fee $2
Final Values fee $5 approx (8.75% of $25 and 3.5% of $75)
Buy it now fee $1
Mbr: -
Reg fee: $10
PayPal: $5

Profit: $72

Condition:

(1) Paypal account must be upgraded to Premier or Business. I did that and apparently there are no charges for the upgrading.

Thus all in, it is really easier to sell on NamePros, isn't it?

...

I asked earlier if using escrow protects the transaction if the paypal buyer complains that his account was hacked into.

I found a thread that talks about how useful is escrow in handling stolen domains (for example even when you use the escrow services of Afternic, Sedo, TDNAM, etc). You might like to read it here: http://www.namepros.com/441941-warning-in-regards-to-stolen-domains-2.html
