Hi.
these may sound trivial to some but i could not find a recent exact post.

when selling in afternic, using custom landing page option with BIN + MO:

1- if we set BIN=5k, FLOOR=4k and MIN OFFER=3k, deal done by brokers @ BIN >= DEAL >= FLOOR ? (obviously all >= MIN). if we set all 3 equal (BIN only), we benefit no broker activity ?

2- does setting a good MIN OFFER block tirekickers and lowballers completely? besides, does afternic forward nonsense questions, fake TM claims & "this domain was mine"...etc to you, when MO is enabled?

thanks.

The role of a broker is to negotiate on your behalf, i.e: they field the calls, emails, listen to the prospect's needs and chase down followups. A broker is most successful when they are empowered to do a deal. The floor price is the amount a broker is allowed to go as low as without contacting you. If you do not include a floor price then the broker can still negotiate, but they will have to run all decisions by you which can introduce delays (what if you're on vacation?) and cause deals to be lost (some buyers need quick decisions).

Setting a minimum offer around your floor price can block tire kickers but it can also block genuine prospects who need a harder sell. Some people swear by having a high minimum offer. I think if you're going to use Afternic's brokers, it doesn't make sense to also have a high minimum offer: set the minimum offer low and let Afternic deal with the tire kickers, because if there is a chance the offer is genuine, they could get a deal done. Afternic's brokers will not forward junk to you in most normal circumstance.

I have the minimum offer price for all of my domains set at $20. I get more junk offers than genuine, but whatever, the Afternic brokers have to deal with it, not me. Here's a recent example of someone submitting a junk offer, which Afternic chased up, and then closed.

My recommendation is to start off as permissive as possible, and only be more restrictive with your minimum offer when necessary. If you set your minimum offer to $20 and every day get dozens of junk emails that ruin your life, sure, increase the minimum, but for most investors, offers are pretty uncommon, so any potential lead is worth collecting, especially if some poor broker at Afternic is the one who has to deal with it.

thank you for taking the time & effort to provide valuable info/insight.

i also wonder, if there is a firm BIN only, will an afternic broker still contact you if the buyer is aggressive or they don't even bother for a BIN-only listing?
