Hi guys,

A month ago i listed for sale some domains of mine at Afternic.
A week ago or so I received on my email "Price Requested on your AfternicDLS Domain". They forced me to set a "Buy now" and "Floor price" if I want to proceed with a buyer.
Ok, I put a 49K buy now price. The potential buyer, neither Afternic didn't reply. Nevermind.

Now, please pay attention, 4 days ago I got a message that "Your domain ownership (WhoIs) needs to be verified" - for the SAME domain. What the hell? First they are asking me to put a "Buy now" price and AFTER that they are verifying this domain name?

It's not over. Today I've got an email that my "Buy now" price is too high and with that price my domain can't be listed at Afternic! I need to low it to 20K.

Is it normal practice for Afternic: first to ask to set a BUY NOW price, than in couple of days ask for verification and finally they are asking to make the BUY NOW price lower?

Had the same thing happen several times myself, seems they want to set everything and leave nothing up to us.
I still have names i entered being checked, this is from about 8 months ago, i don't bother with them at all now,too many hoops to jump through for too little reward for me.

Quite simply, make your own landing pages for the domains that the sales sites won't list at your desired price.

People really hate making offer at the min price shown, only to be countered by something significantly higher like double or more. And they are left wondering why don't you just have that price in the first place instead of waste people's time.

Same thing happens at Sedo, they won't let you list at over 10K, unless you ask them to look at it and see if THEY think it's worth that.

On the other hand, if they didn't have a limit, I can see how they might be concerned, that their marketplaces will be flooded with everyone setting 1 million dollar pricestags on worthless domains though...

In your case, if you think your domain is worth 49K, then stick to your price.

Afternic made some design improvements lately, however with domain ownership verification, it's still take forever... sometimes never. As Razor mentioned, they sometimes reject high BIN price as Sedo does past x years. Same happen to me, when I received an offer for a domain without BIN and floor price.

The lower the prices are kept the more turnover ........simple strategy

Thanks for the feedback guys. Good to know I'm not the only one who had this :)
Don't think that this Afternic model is very good (for now I like Sedo's model more)

The strange thing is that they wanted to verify the ownership after they asked me to put BIN and floor price.

Anyway - now understand that it's how they work

That usually happens when a buyer contacts one of their brokers to buy a domain that doesn't have a fixed price. It's normal. I don't know why they should ask you now they are verifying the domain unless you've maybe transferred it since first listing it.

Personally I think Afternic are more responsive and quicker than Sedo. That's been my experience, at least.

Funny thing is that I agreed on their 20K limit, but domain now is not listed for sale (because of them not because of me)

Have you asked them why it's not for sale after having complied with their requests?

I guess I sent them the email. I guess - because I didn't get confirmation that I sent it.

Ohhh it's a strange place :) Just deleted both Buy Now and Floor prices for this domain (thought it would help to list it). But no, it's still not listed, and that old price request appeared again :)

Few weeks ago I have sent a screen shot of "whois" for few of my domains, to proof my ownership, because they suck to do so by them selfs, and finally I have got a respond today:

"Hello.
We have received your emails.
Was there something you wanted us to do with this information?
Thank you.

Really?

LOL
But did they verify the names finallY?

This is why I love registrars (i.e. register.com) and marketplaces (i.e. sedo) where u can resolve problem in a moment in a live chat.

I assume they did ask you for these pics? I ask because they have never asked me to do this but Sedo ask me all the time. If I have a domain which I've added which hasn't been reviewed yet, I just send them an email asking them to review it, and it's done in 24-48hrs.

No, they did not ask for pisc, but they seems to be a little confused about their own business.
You are right about Sedo, they are much faster in this matter.

For example I added 6 domains to both Afternic/Sedo this morning. 5 are already listed at Afternic. None are yet listed at Sedo.
