After two unsolicited domain name sales this year, one for 750.00 and the other for 600.00, and an offer of 1,000 for my own name, which isn't for sale, I became hooked on the domain name game. After reading about it and seeing names bring thousands, I became even more excited and as a result I went nuts and now own 148 domains. I'd love to just sit on them and wait till their value increases, but alas, I have to sell some of them to pay off the domain name credit card bill!

I've just started trying to sell them online, posting one on Ebay (no luck) a couple at auction on GoDaddy (no luck) and a few in categories here (no luck).

So thought I'd post the ones I'm trying to sell and see if maybe I could get some idea of value range? These are all newly listed domains, so theres no parking traffic or income to consider. Just the names themselves.

These are all sites I'm looking to sell

snakelore.com is one I may continue to develop, however, I'd still like ideas on the name value.

Any ideas or help will be greatly appreciated. I realize it's all volunteer and this is not an exact science...I can't guarentee I'll give up all hope if I'm told these aren't worth much, but it might reset my direction. Anything shared by you guys who are much more experienced in this field will be helpful!

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

Just a ball park would be great! I'm addicted would like to continue, but have to figure out the best way to sell a few to pay for this habit! I'm sure you all understand, as I'm betting we're all in the same frame of mind here...this is GREAT FUN!

Thanks for your help!

My advice is this. Rather than buying over a hundred names buy 5 quality names and build and work the sites. Once they become profitable use the proceeds to buy 5 more. It's easy to hit a jackpot at the casino but much harder to hit the jackpot and walk out of the casino. :imho: Good Luck.

Thanks WeBuy! So true...and good advice, but it doesn't negate the fact that I'm addicted! LOL! Guess that's why the casino investors, along with Godaddy are so rich!!

So are you saying there's no value on any of my listed names?

Yeah not too much value, my estimate low $xx for each of them

Well darn.... Guess the best thing then will be to put them up for auction cheap and see what happens! I'll just have to hang onto the ones that don't sell and try selling other's I have until I've made back enough money to pay for the ones I want to try to develop. Thanks everyone!

On an upbeat note, I put all of these names in premiumdomains.com for an appraisal and famous.cc was certified Premium and three others rated well. So not all was hopeless! Of course, whether that means anything in the terms of money, only time will tell.

Hello Dustie ,

Nice to see you here on namepros. Well it is pretty much the same story for everyone...well almost 80 % of people here....

Now that you have already amde the mistake (Which i dont think is a mistake) I think you have a great possibility on capitalising.

Put up a web directory on one of the sites..Add all the links into that website and replicate the database and set up a website on each name....That way you will have 148 sites each having 148 links.....Add adsense....add kontera.......and keep on stumbling and digging......

Even if you can get visitors to one of the sites then most of them will start getting there....

In about 6 months time when you see that all those 148 are about to expire in 4 months time move them to a parking company......

Collect stats for three months (Even though just 10-15 $ on each site) and then sell....That way you could have atleast 50 $ average for each site...148 * 50 = do the magic.

Sounds like a long shot and far fetched but worth a try....

Famous.cc is a winner. Most are sitting on their .cc domains. Hold on to that baby until you are old and ugly and you can retire famously (no pun intended), IMO!

Evil, that was a very helpful post!! I've copied it and have tucked it away under D for domains! Thanks...I think I'll take that advice!

Psych, Thanks to you too, for that upbeat post. I'd be rich today if only I was able to hang onto whatever was worth money. Problem is, I'm always selling too soon! ;-( I'd hang onto this name, but if it's worth money, I could sure use the money now too... oh what's a person to do? LOL...nice kind of delema though.

Excellent advice evil!

The fact is I tried to adopt the same strategy. 6 months down the line, I realised - spending time money and energy on 5-10 domains is a better task and selling them for low xxx. selling 148 domains is imho very difficult!

Having said all of the above, capitalise on Famous.cc - make a celeb blog, post pics, and get some traffic going. You could perhaps recover upto 50% of your money on 148 domains doing that!

All the best

More good advice. My problem with developing websites is simply time.

I've 4 sites I keep updated on a regular basis, and am in the process of creating 4 others. I wish I didn't have to sleep! That takes way to much time out of my day!

Thanks though, for the good advice!

The others didn't do anything for me, and I couldn't pick out much value for them in any way, except possibly olbie and oGoat as somewhat interesting brandable LLLLL that might get you in the low - high xx range in a sale, a little more if you happened upon an end user who liked them.

But Famous.cc is a very nice one and worthy of some development... or a lot. There's some value to it already, though not huge due to the dot.cc, but if I was going to create a site around celebs and was looking for a great keyword with an affordable extension, I would pay into the low - medium xxx for this one, if that means anything. I like it very much and hope you do some even minimal cool development.

Unseasonal.com is good - has 173,000 Google search result.

I agree that it is good to get few good domains instead of 100 average ones. But sometimes you may need a lot of domains in order to get a few unsolicited offers.
