Addicted to Caffeine

I know many of us in here are addicted to caffeine? My addiction is all thanks to Coca-cola and not coffee. The other week, I finally drank a large cup of coffee to keep me awake and it worked. A few hours later I developed this throbbing headache.

The headache continued on for 3 days (I was also staying away from Coke) for those 3 days). When the headache was gone, I drank 3 cans of coke in one day and WHAM I get another throbbing headache a few hours later.

What is that all about??? :( If I'm addicted to caffeine, and it's been like over 10 years now, shouldn't my tolerance level be way up there by now? Anyone else in here suffer from headaches when they have too much caffeine in them?

The withdrawal headaches-experienced that one at the start of the year. I decided to give up tea and coffee (i've had about 4 cups this year) and started drinking more herbal and green teas.

3 cans of coke in one day seems a bit much, maybe the headaches are your body's way of saying "slow down."

if you read some of the stories on erowid you'll see some of the people can't go 30minutes without drinking them.

You need to quit and keep your body clean & i need to practice what i preach

Not to mention the sugar in it. You're probably getting high from both the caffein and the sugar. What is the initial " feel good" that u get from drinking coke.
1. sugar
2. tingly carbonation
3. caffeine
There is a brand called Hansen's natural soda. try it.., it has less sugar but with that tingly carbonation.., and then wean yourself off Coca cola gradually.
withrawl symptoms are probably from the sugar crash. The blood sugar was initially jacked up and then crashed by then. I just keep to 1 coffee in the morning but should quit too.

You're so right...the headache was probably from my blood sugar level. Eek!:yell: Thanks for the tip, I'll try the Hansen's natural soda.

I am trying to quit the Coke...I think I'm mainly addicted to the "tingly carbonation" more than anything else really.

I love coffee too. But I limit myself to only once a day.

I heard it has anti-cancer properties.

You may read up on caffeine in wikipedia as well.

And here is a story from a College Student that was addicted to caffeine...Geez 800mg of caffeine at one time........

And last to say a medical/gov link. Its from the National Library of medicine and National Institute of Medicine. Caffeine

It's better to be caffein-addicted than nikotin-addicted, IMHO.

I used to drink way too much pop... like 3-4 cans a day. Now I have maybe one a week with dinner if I'm out at a restaurant, otherwise I basically drink water. If I drink a pop at any point then that night i get real bad heartburn so thats why I stopped drinking it.

My sleeping pattern is off again as I accidentally had some coffee a couple of nights ago. It was in a chicory drink called 'camp'. Having had other chicory drinks before i didn't check the ingredients. It only had 4%, but enough to keep me awake longer than usual!

Me too, my addiction to Coke is the cause of my sleeping problems (which BTW disrupts my entire lifestyle). Bah, c'est la vie!
