After Godaddy raised the cost of the Discount Domain Club to 100%, I decided to move all my domains to Porkbun.
I spoke to their customer support, and try to convinced me to join the Basic Membership which is good for 49 domains, if you have more than that you have to pay full price for the rest domains you own.
He was also trying to convince me about the hassle I'll have transfering all my domains to another registrar.
After I hung up, I received an email from GoDaddy asking me how was their customer service, with a coupon for a 25% discount on my next purchase. :-P
I own around 150 domains, to pay $240 to have a discount which will end even a more expensive price than the one Porkbun is offering, after reserching to see if they are legit, today I transfered the first one.

It will be interesting to see if more domainers start going to them as a result.
I'm really curious about this year's "Favorite Registrar of the Year" poll on NamePros.

Last year GoDaddy finished 4th and Porkbun 5th, while Porkbun is still much smaller. That's impressive.

With the registrar market in full swing and each registrar offering something unique, it's definitely worth exploring the best deals out there. It's a relief when your registrar suddenly takes you seriously again, like Porkbun does.

Yes, I always find that poll interesting. For instance, the fact that GD places so high. I think that can only be because there are a lot of domainers who start with them (because it's the name they know) and they never try anyone else (or it takes a long time for them to do so).

They spend an enormous amount on marketing and advertising. GoDaddy should, given the number of Domains Under Management, have earned a #1 position in the poll, simply because of their huge customer base. But no. Even with the help of some GoDaddy and Dan employees voting for their own company (which is explicitly not allowed), their score in the poll is getting worse every year.

People need to consider leaving GD if they are still there.

DDC is $239.93 per year and offers $10.99 renewal .com pricing.
So even if you have 1,000 names you're coming in at $11.23 per renewal (unclear if that includes ICANN fee or not).

Either way, you can get .com renewals at
Dynadot ($10.86)
Porkbun ($11.06 or $10.73 with ACH acct).
Both are Sedo MLS and Afternic FT partners.

If you are willing to forgo AN FT, you can even renew at $10.16 at Spaceship.
Nevertheless, that's 3 excellent registrars you can switch to and save $$$.

AN FT has always meant a lot to me. Enough to keep me tied to GD. But lately? I'm not sure how much it matters.

After Boost was launched my AN sales fell off a cliff, so this year I've been moving a lot of names to Spaceship to save $$$. Especially when they're listed at as premiums on the brandable marketplaces (and thus get their own views/marketing). Where the name is only AN/Sedo - I will probably split the registrar as a test (1/2 at Spaceship and the other 1/2 at Dyna/Porkbun) to see if AN FT matters. Likely too small to be stat sig, but will still do it.

I pulled 80% of my names off Sav in the past few weeks. They are going downhill fast. No longer can recommend them with all the problems they're having lately.

I'm 99.5% off GD now. Was 100% GD for 15+ years. Oh how the mighty have fallen

What do you think is the reason Boost dropped your sales? I thought Boost just did nothing, didn't realise it makes things worse by existing

imo - Boost is fake, it was just a commission grab. What is really occurring is GD is pushing exact match alternate hand reg TLDs now. So actual similar names aren't being shown - just more alt TLDs. Do a search and see for yourself. Only a handful are Premium names and most have nothing to do with the initial search

It wasn't the Boost, but the change of the algorithm, and ''Search'' button removal at Afternic - that's what made sales drop off the cliff. Basically buyers can't see your names any longer at AF and GD, except for a scrolling for a long, long time (counted you have no landing page with them). ''Boost'' just happen to pop up at the same time - it's a complete joke, big empty zero.

So how does this make sense from a business point of view for them?

More sales = more commissions for them in the first place. They are making more from end users handregging domains instead?

Boost just sounds like it's a worse version of what we had before, so even with it on you'll have less sales if I'm understaind this correctly

Yes, I think they put their chips on handreggs, counting many hundreds of tlds on the market. And to stop rapidly evaporating sellers client base they created a ''Boost'' in order to keep domainers engaged and make them pay the same commission rate that they were paying before, but for way much better search system.

The height of narcissism -- who the hell do they think they are!? Screw them!

I stopped feeding the glutinous PIG years ago. You should too!

Just saw this but is it a new change? Waiting on Afternic to confirm but it looks like Boosted domains may be found here? Not sure if it will be worth it but it's some sort of improvement if our names can actually be found

I couldn't find my names there either, for very similar searches as mine. Can't tell what it is and where names are feeded from. But I don't think an end user cares about some ''aftermarket'' or any other extra options you should click on further. He just goes and types into the main search field. So, won't make no difference for domainers, imo.
