domain Aerosmith #2

Hey I need some feedback. I got an email (whcih seemd very serious and 100% legit) asking if I was interested in selling my AerosmithFans.com. This site has been on line for over 10 years. It started as a personal home page and moved to a full domain in 1998.

We get about 5,000 page views per day across the site. When the band is on tour that number double to close to 10,000 per day.

The site is ranked in the top 5 of many search engines on the term "aerosmith" and is in the top 10 on even more. (Examples below)

The site generates revenue of mid $XXX monthly eitehr directly or through links to my other sites.

I do not advertise at all. Not one penny out of my pocket has gone into this site. It is drawing all of its revenue on its own.

Assuming I am dealing with a motivated buyer, what is a good opening asking price and a minimum selling price?

I know you just made a typo and it's the second one, I was just kidding.

It's not the most appealing layout I've ever seen (no offence) but holy crap that thing does well in SEO, did you hire a SEO expert or something? The results it comes back with are excellent!

Considering your revenue also, I'd sell it for no less than mid $x,xxx. I'm sure if you sold it to the right person you could push high $x,xxx or even low $xx,xxx through. I don't think personally I'd pay more than mid $x,xxx though for it.

I hired NO ONE! Just followed a few of my rules of thumb for setting up a site and enhancing it for searches. Every bit of traffic and revenue is a direct result of my sweat equity. I have put $0 into the site as far as cash out of my pocket. I do think that it may be huge if I were to do any sort of marketing etc. (Oh as far as the typo goes, I have a seriously injured right arm/hand. The result is lysdexic typing at times. A.K.A. Eye KantTipe!)

I agree about the layout, especially the current site. That was done so many years ago and well lets just say that my HTML skills have advanced since then. The new layout might not be what some folks like, but I am experimenting with some new design and just seeing where it takes me...

One additional bit of data. I do own both Aerosmith.Info and AerosmithFanClub.com that would be packaged with the name. Both have total shit sites up now.

Thanks for the input people! Much appreciated. This site has been a labor of love so to speak so a lot fo whats in it is more than a pure $$$ value. (I guess that the best way to put it.) I am going to play this out slowly and see how things go. I will not sell cheap at all. If these folks really want this site they will end up paying me very well for it. The new design should be live by the end of the month. We will see how it goes by then. Here are some stats off of Webalizer for August. They arent drop dead fantastic, but for a 100% unadvertised site that boils down to being a personal fan page they are not too shabby...
