hi all.

Needs some advise ,looking at a name but got a big question .

(ill use fictional domain names )

I wanted to take the name seatype.com and develop a site about the ocean, fish etc,BUT there is a existing site not owned by me which is developed called "seattype.com" about types of seats and chairs and furniture.

seatype.com vs seattype.com

So my question, the word is near identical yet has 2 very different meanings and representations of sites. Could the owner of "seattype.com" cause me any grief or(legal) problems IF i was to registrar" seatype.com"?

or

(www. beetype .com) my plan is to develop a site about "birds and bees" vs (www. Beettype .com) which isnt owned by me and is already developed and is a site about "vegetables and beet juice".

So ,Beetype vs Beettype.com.Is there any(legal) problems with me taking Beetype.com?

thanks to anyone who take the time to respond i really appreciate it .

you should be safe as long as your spelling doesn't look like some trademark and as long as you are clearly not trying to cash in on typo. With generic words you should be absolutely fine. An example of something iffy would be, say, pepsit.com (with the trademark being pepsi.com)

(note: not a lawyer and this is just a general opinion based on previous experiences with intellectual properties)
