First of all, as new forum member, hello to all the others members. My name is Francesco and I'm from Italy.
Get to the point ... I have some domains .com .it .eu parked on sale on an escrow site through which I sold a couple. Yesterday I received by mail (that I think is an hoax) a direct offer (for me overrated) for a domain .com (the "interested buyer offer me 15.000 usd vs 3.000 usd of appraisal). Obviously I wrote to "interested buyer" to refer to my escrow service to finalize the sale. He continues to ask me a certificate for accounting/tax purpose with independent valuation of the market price and trademark infringement verification. He also suggested me an email address where obtain it. After he will be available to buy the domain via escrow. What to do? Tks for a discussion with members more expert and competent than me .
Francesco

anytime this issue comes in the forum it ends up being a scam
I'm afraid the 'interested party' only want your money
you can search the forum if you want more details, there are some older posts that refer to similar mails

EDIT: you can search for 'appraisal scam' and check the results

Thank you guys! I'm a new member but I was quite sure it was a scam. But I didn't understand where it was his profit. His profit is the appraisal service that, I suppose, is not free of charge, right? :D Tks again!

Correct. You pay for an appraisal and never hear from the said "investor" again. Simple as 1-2-3, easy money for the appraisal company which is owned by...well, you can connect the dots :)

As they are willing to pay way over the price, work out how much the Escrow fees will cost, and tell them you will knock that cost off their proposed offer, plus an additional $2000 discount (you're still way over the domain's value). They have nothing else to say then, and if they do it's obviously a scam (well, it already is).

That said, you are really better off just not replying to them, as replying to these scams can reveal your IP address (not always) and the very least they show your email address is active.

Because of public whois records, I sometimes receive an email from scammers when domains are due for renewal, with a full invoice - looks pretty professional. Wanting me to pay to renew etc.

They'll try anything.
