Advice on a personal domain to use for email

Hi guys (and gals),

I need some advice as I'm looking to register a domain to use specifically for email. I've been using an ISP supplied address for the past 3 years (availability at times has been spotty) and now that I am moving away from home (and switching ISPs) it's probably a good time to migrate my email to a domain based one where I only ever have to worry about paying an email hosting bill. The main problem being that I've got lots of stuff registered or subscribed to my current ISP address so I'd like to get a decent domain so I don't have to do this again.

The problem is coming up with a good domain name.

I already have my full name .com (omarsaeed.com), but it looks a little long, especially since I would probably have an email address like: omar[at]omarsaeed.com

Ideally I'd like to get a decent tld, but my family name (saeed) is taken in the four major ones (.com, .net, .org, .co.uk)

I have considered: osaeed.com , but it looks a little strange on the screen when I type it. Someone has also suggested rsaeed.com, so I can have an addy like: om[at]rsaeed.com, but once again I am slightly unsure of how it looks.

Any suggestions or advice would be most welcome and if I do reg a domain that someone suggests then there will be some NP$ on the way.

Rsaeed.com sounds good enough to me. The double e might be hard for people to remember sometimes but I think it's better than osaeed. Maybe you should rearrange the letters in your last name to come up with a new domain to try.

Personally I will use omarsaeed.com. My full name is too long so I use wangm.com coz mwang.com is taken. But I think yours is ok.
Or you can give [email protected] a try. I know .name is rubbish in domainers' view but that is original idea for .name.

hmm, I also did consider some lesser known extensions.

saeed.ws is available, just wondering whether that might be one to go for.

I don't like fake TLDs (.cc .ws), it is confusing plus the price is little bit more considering a "lifetime" use. :imho:
Domains for personal emails should be easily remembered by your friends. They are not domainers like us.

"Fake" TLDs? Those are perfectly real and have good value.

Get the .name or .com names if you can - and ONLY those for your purpose, is what I'd recommend.

Sorry, when I said "Fake", I mean those ccTLDs advertized by registrars as "new" gTLDs. I have developed .cc and made sale on .cc names myself too but still don't quite like them.

I PM'd you a 6 letter .com suggestion as well. Also, you might think about a nickname, or initials instead of your given name. Or try for the .eu name if eligible.

Keep it short and easy, better with .com or take a .be .es or .in

The two "e" letter might make mistakes to people.
