Does anyone think that there is value in adding a number to a valuable domain name in order to get the .com? That is, to use a general example that's already been done, let's say that "stocks.com" is taken, and you could get "stocks1.com" or "stocks-1.com," would you do that? Would those generally be considered pretty valuable, or does moving that much away from the basic keyword make it not worth investing in? (And I'm not just talking about my example -- I mean in all similar cases.) Or would the "____1.com" be worth it, but not the "____-1.com"?

Your opinions would be greatly valued, as always...

it depends if your company is related to it. Sometimes adding a number to a domain for your company might give it it's unique business name, i.e. Stocks1, and that is a good name making method. If you're going to sell it, i'm not to sure, but I would never have something-1.com, hyphens suck!
