Adding a blog to your website.

How would I go about adding a blog script or some kind of script that allows me to post new articles each day, with out having to use wordpress?

I currently use Pelican. It's quite basic but does the job for me. There are a bunch of different stuff you can use, depending on your technical level.

Or just use tumblr on a subdomain. The added benefit there is that every person that reblogs you on tumblr will be another indexed link to your site.

I was trying to look into more of learning how to program my own blog by adding scripts and bespoke it. Which probly will make things difficult in the long run.
