I got an unsolicited offer to buymy domain name, adapted.com, for $1000 the other day. I just wondered if there is any good way to determine if that is a fair offer or not. Thanks.

Domain pricing is a very subjective issue. The first thing you have to ask yourself is "what is is worth to me?" :) Having said that, if it were my domain, I'd expect to get a lot more for this that a $1000. IT's just a matter of finding the right buyer. Since the offer was unsolicited, I assume you do not have the domain listed for sale anywhere. You've owned it since 1998, it is a dictionary word, it generates massive results with search engines - just a few reasons contributing to my assesment of its value.
Try counter-offering with a higher amount, or get an account with sedo.com (domain auction house), list the name for sale and see what kind of interest it generates.

Absolutly agree with Ivoy, which surely has way more experience on domaining that I do, easily to say the truth, for 1k i wouldnt drop that domain even half dedd.

Dictionary words .coms are going up in value almost exponentially, specially if you have held that domain for so long, i would like to encourage you to keep it and only release it when the offer is absolutly convincing for you.

The SEDO idea is good, I bet my left b*ll that you could get way more than $1,000 for it.

Best of luck friend.

Thanks for the input.

The offer is up to $1500 now, but after reading the two responses here, I think I just may keep it.
