Hi

A few days ago, I bought a website - DN.VC and have been optimizing it for SEO. Now I was thinking of setting 3 ad spots (can always add 3 more).
But how much should I ask/month. What important points of the website should I take in consideration?

The website has a PR3, ~1500 UV / month, ...

what is the source of the traffic? you should keep in mind that 100x100 isn't a very popular size for advertisers or publishers, so filling all three may be difficult at any price.

I don't think you can sell those ad spots for more than $5/month. Also increasing ad size will help too.

Okay,

And any ideas which sizes are used more?

THanks for the guidelines.
But is it me or doesn't it make any sense?

I mean an ad spot, rectangle or not, what makes the difference?
bigger? why? Is it because google or some other company/person came up with it?

125 * 125 seems reasonable though, but still.

Some measures don't make sense either to me (468 x 60 -> 468? why not 470?). I mean the width of a sidebar differs from style to style. That makes sites so unique.

The IAB Ad Unit Guidelines are intended for marketers, agencies and media companies for use in the creating, planning, buying and selling of interactive marketing and advertising.

these are simply generally accepted standard dimensions, and the wide assortment of them allows for placements in many different situations. without standards, ad sizes would be a mess and connecting publishers with advertisers would be very difficult.

K, seems reasonable, but still... I mean if you have a standard size (square), you can always resize it, depending offcourse if everything stays readable.

But I still would like to know what I should take in consideration to setup the price.

Source of traffic (if important) - for the last week (changes are still being made for SEO):
- 80% direct, bookmarks
- 5% search
- 15% links website

This banner size is a result of the early days of the internet where most sites were designed to be displayed on a screen resolution of 640x480. A width of 468 basically filled the width of the screen leaving 12 pixels for the scroll bars and window edges.

I think 468x60 is still the most common ad size on the internet (particularly in banner exchange programs). I personally prefer 728x90 banners.
