Afternoon,

I am working for a company that is trying to get their hands on a dot come. My understanding is that they've reached out multiple times on their own and using lawyers.

There has never been any confirmed contact and offers in the 5-6 figure range have been made.

Since I "dabble" in domaining, I thought I'd take a stab at it by reaching out to this community for advice.

We have a full name and an city (American) but not much else. The individual is likely a lot older.

My question:

How can we get this persons attention? What would a reputable broker do differently than a lawyer?

What would you do?

Thanks and happy holidays!!!

What is the domain currently being used for? Who's info is listed under Whois? What's the domain?

Need a little more info; are you having trouble contacting the domain owner because they have whois privacy enabled? And have you sent to that email addy but they haven't replied so you're thinking somehow your email isn't reaching them... or possibly the email their privacy forwards to isn't being checked?
Another possibility is your emails are reaching the owner/s but they are a huge biz and have no intention of selling the domain and simply don't bother to answer.
What website is currently on the domain, does that give you any clues to investigate?

You can buy a domaintools membership (or ask someone here to use theirs, and pay them a little beer money) and find out the last whois registrant before the privacy was enabled, that may give you either the present owner before they enabled whois, or might give you the prev owner and they might be able to tell you who they sold it to, as long as no privacy contract was in place...

There are other ways to investigate. Feel free to PM me the domain if you want more input, I'll keep it private and see what I can come up with. If not, hope the above helps a little :)
