Hey guys,

Right now I'm *trying* to use Registerfly's bulk whois (which is very very accurate) but half of the time their stupid server does nothing but time out.

And GoDaddy's bulk whois is not very accurate.

Are there any very very accurate bulk whois services out there that don't have downtime 50% of the time?

Thanks,
Andy

Registerfly has been down the entire day. What a bunch of idiots.

I know it's been a few weeks, but can anyone add any bulk whois checkers that are accurate (unlike GD's) and is actuall online at least half of the time (unlike Registerfly's)?

Thanks,
Andy

what do you mean accurate? what information are you looking to extract from the whois?

I mean accurate as in: the domains that are available are left in the list, and the unavailable ones spit out. On GoDaddy's for example, I'll put in a list of domains and even when almost all other registrars say those names are available - GoDaddy doesn't. It's like GoDaddy's bulk checker is behind all of the others - it says available names are unavailable and visa versa. Whereas RegFly's doesn't, but it's not online half the time.

I tried this domain SJDentist.com on a few whois, some whois says available, some not. Is this domain really available or not?

are you doing this for the purpose of drop catching? ex: are you using whois to determine whether a daily drop was registered and then try to pick it up if it is available?

yes, I did not think anyone would be interested in this name, so I was hoping to drop catching it yesterday. It showed available from whois.sc, but I could not register it. It would be nice if the whois is more accurate.

sorry, but that won't work. whois is always delayed, anywhere from a few hours to 48 hours, depending on registrar.

what you want to check is the registration status, not whois. there are several scripts and programs available that work with the enom API to constantly check registration status and register the domain when it becomes available.

so.. for domains that might not generate a lot of interest, the other approach may work. whois is way too slow. an old program i remember is desktop API (www.desktopapi.com). not sure how good it is, you may wish to ask around in the forum.

best of luck
