About "Stickies"

I notice that in the for sale "fixed prices" section there are quite a few so-called stickies threads which actually take up about half of the page. The same stickies keep appearing on every page so if you skip from page 1 right through to page 2 and page 3 and so on these stickies confront you every time. Quite annoying. My questions are:
A) Do these stickies remain there indefinitely?
B) What is the purpose of these stickies?
C) How does one post a stickie?
D) What qualifies one for posting a stickie?
E) May anyone post a stickie?

Hey Fred, one of those is mine! I think they stay 'sticky' for around 2 weeks. You have to buy stickies in the for sale forum, i think they cost 800np$. TBH I am a little frustrated as i have had far less interest in the thread than I anticipated, and I think that is because, as you mention, there are so many of them that a lot of people just skip them, or find them annoying. The idea is excellent, as it is the equivalent of a 'paid listing', but i do also feel there should be a restriction on the number of 'stickies' allowed in an area of the forum.

i think there should be defenite number of stickies allowed at one time. some kind of waiting list maybe?

The idea of raising the price and allowing less stickies would work better :imho:

Thanks for the replies guys. Seems like I am not the only one then that finds an overkill of stickies annoying.

Yeah, not at all Binaryman- I think ATM it is frustrating for both buyers and sellers. I think a sort of bidding system would be the best way- perhaps have a set number of stickies for each period, and users bid on those slots- this would also encourage the best domains to be listed in the stickies as people would not spend out if they didn't have a good chance of making their money back.
