All right, to be brief:

I had YERX.com on a SEDO auction, starting at $60. By auction's end, it finished with $80. Now, I'm looking through the auctions and stumbled across VORY.com, which started at $70. With my auction, I gave no real rationality as to why my domain was worth bidding on; I only gave a few examples of recent sales. The auction for VORY.com does the same while adding that it's a typo of very (it's NOT a typo of very, as the E and O are on opposite ends of the keyboard) and that it's a consanant/vowel/consanant/vowel .com & that no CVCV are left in the wild. VORY.com has 2+ hours to go and is settled down in a nice $1,500 spot.

I'm not asking if YERX.com is better/worse than VORY.com. I'm asking: Does it really matter what combination of V and C a domain has? This CVCV (and Y can be considered a vowel, remember) is doing so great but my CVCC (or VVCC if you want to look at it that way) did so poorly. Any thoughts on this? Are CVCV the only real valuable non-dictionary-word LLLL?

(Note: The buyer backed out and I retain YERX.com. Pretty good. I didn't want to sell this for a paltry $80 anyway.)

YERX.com for $80. Buyer backed out. You were getting a really nice price. Buyer made a good decision by backing out :) I think too bad for you

And you didn't mention some thing. VORY is pronounceable

And so is YERX lol (Yerks) In fact, YERX is one syllable whilst VORY is two.
Selling YERX.com would have been a mistake on my part but this thread wasn't meant to debate that. I'm just asking for enlightment.

Many LLLL.com have sold for over $1,000. Just a few:
(Thre is little arguement about pronouncability -- AUVO.com sold for $4,000+)

Myca com $2,000 Mar 07 Afternic 1 4 N N http://Myca.com Afternic
Conn com $29,500 Mar 07 Sedo 1 4 N N http://Conn.com DNJournal

EyeO com $615 Mar 07 TDNam 2 4 N N http://EyeO.com TDNam
FXFI com $250 Mar 07 Afternic 1 4 N N http://FXFI.com Afternic
Flar com $4,250 Mar 07 BuyDomains 1 4 N N http://Flar.com DNJournal
6666 com $9,420 Mar 07 Moniker/Traffic 1 4 Y N http://6666.com Moniker
USTI com $12,500 Mar 07 BuyDomains 1 4 N N http://USTI.com DNJournal
ARPH com $590 Mar 07 Moniker/Traffic 1 4 N N http://ARPH.com Moniker
WBNC com $2,545 Mar 07 SnapNames 1 4 N N http://WBNC.com DNJournal

Some of these are really good and some are random but they've ALL sold for a decent price. What makes a LLLL valuable?

I think its a case of how pronouncable it is with most CVCV.coms, the most valuable usually have harder sounding consanants as there second consanants eg veBo or seDo.

I like one syllable LLLL.com as well. They may have their day the way CVCV.com have. Not now though!

GUFH[.]com
HIJL[.]com
HOXC[.]com

and is gufh one syllable?
and do they loose value because their not CVCV order?
Thanks

I think in general, a pronounceable domain has a grammatical structure ie it requires no imagination to say. BRAMMIE.com, for example, looks like it could be a real word with its structure. My YERX.com, the same (some might think of it as YER and the letter X but X is pronounced -ks ie sex). GUFH looks like a group of random letters in a meaningless fashion. I'd have to say that none of yours is truly pronounceable.

I cannot see exactly why "random letter" domans sell so well but they do. Shar.com (follows a grammatical structure) netted $8,001 whilst QZAB.com (ungrammatical) netted $550. It is a confusion to me. YERX.com is worth more than $80 so I'm thankful the sale fell through. But what makes a LLLL of value these days? And what letter combinations (or V/C combinations) work the best? QZAB is a CCVC with poor letters yet it still netted $550. What am I missing?

I like Vory.com better then Yerx.com and think it was worth its selling price. Just sounds better and looks better. I sold ZUPY.com this year for $1,100. Nonetheless, lucky for you that Yerx.com did't sell as it is worth more then $80 as i compare it with some of my past LLLL.com sales. Good luck!
