I scored a great domain and now I'm making a parody site for a possible US senate contender...

Is it okay if I have an entire parody site with quotes from this canidate (which arn't really his). If I put a little "This is a parody site" on the bottom would it be okay?

thanks!

Well beyond okay. Political speech is the reason for the First Amendment.

Give 'em hell!

Parody and satire are protected by the First Amendment and were further strengthened by the landmark case, Hustler Magazine / Larry Flynt v. Jerry Falwell. The ruling in this case allowed the press freedom to publish subject matter that some people may find objectionable in order to protect free political speech. In addition, the First and Fourteenth Amendments prohibit public figures from recovering damages for emotional distress. Invasion of privacy is a non-issue since the person you are basing your parody on is a public/political figure.

I own TheLPGA.com which I will be developing as a parody-site soon (unless of course someone offers me a few hundred for it!) Good luck with your project and show it off at Namepros when you get it underway! What's the domain BTW?
