A New Proxy Site - Am I going in right direction?

Hey all,

I spent the last few months making a popular arcade. It started getting about 2-3 thousand uniques a day but I made about 2 cents per click with google adsense which is just not worth it. After re-evaluating my options I'm going to start a new proxy site.

Unlike most of the proxies out there it has a dedicated server. I used my profits from the arcade site to pay for it.

It's not getting much traffic at the moment as I am strategising on how to get the traffic. Although I reckon it won't be long before I'm getting 1000 uniques a day.

Still to come is a proper design. I will be working on that very soon. Just thought I'd let you all know about this so you can watch it's development.

If it ends up doing well (e.g. $10 a day with adsense) then I think I'll write an article for the forum on what I did.

Deffinatly heading in the right dirrection. My tips would be to add some padding so the text is not sitting next to the borders. I love the green colour maybe add one more colour to complement that green. I often get a new doc up in photoshop paint one half one colour and the other another colour just to see which ones go. I think also something like a 6px thick border would fit nice around the main green content holder. Make the border green but a lighter shade.

Dont a lot of schools have ways of blocking a lot of proxy sites now?

You need to update your PHProxy, the one you using right now is 0.4. Which doesn't work with MySpace login. Upgrade to 0.5, it will work with MySpace.

Also, you will want to install AdLogger, a lot of proxy owners have been banned or receive warning emails. Some proxy users often constantly click your Google Ads.

It is great thing you start off with a dedicated server. But just pay cautious with IPs.

Thanks for this comment, I got that email from Google. Google gives NO DIRECTION WHATSOEVER on who, how, or where invalid clicks are coming from. It is maddening. I'll be installing it ASAP on my proxy sites.

Side note: OP, Proxy sites are a weird market. The money is totally sporatic, and if your site starts getting banned, poof. Don't expect a lot from it. Good luck.

I plan to limit my traffic. Once I reach the 1000 uniques a day mark from what I've heard I can make about $300 a month.

If a site get's too big and is in this niche they tend to get banned by advertising companies. Where as if it's limited to a certain amount then they seem to slip under the advertising companies radar.

So I guess someone could make 10 proxies. Limit them to under $500 a month and not really have to be worried about getting banned by G.

Yea. It surely is. And when you want to get details, even if you write so nicely, you will just get the same emails that (almost) all people receive when they request for more information.

There is also a huge discussion in Proxy.org's forum regarding of click bot that targeting either proxy network or Google (Just assumptions so far, no exact proves).

I have received the warning email as well. But my payment didn't get hold and I still get to keep my account which is a great relive considering there are several webmasters that got banned with more than $1000 in their AdSense account.

I only had like 3 or 4 proxy sites, all of them are small site as I don't promote them at all besides of submitting to Proxy.org. They only get around 50s each daily visitors. Yet I still got the warning email So I doubt it is the site size.
