Can we have a screenshot please. That will help beacuse i need to know the error. Secondly, have you made virus scans, and which virus software are you using?
thanks

might be a virus. I recommend you get it looked into ASAP. And run a spyware scan too. Get Windows Defender, and Ad-aware SE Personal. Don't forget to run a scan on both. Good luck!

Ad-aware SE Personal and spybot serach and destroy are anti-spyware, different from anti-virus. Get AVG Anti-virus Free Edition, if you don't have anything else.

this does not sound like an issue with a virus
It sounds to me like you could have one or more of these issues:
1. memory, either virtual or physical.
2. you had an update go wrong, or you need to update again
3. something in Msconfig or msinfo32 is not set correctly (could be due to new software install)

I would recomend using microsofts website to help you find and troubleshoot the issue.

Here's a few solutions:

If you recently installed SP or SP2, try reverting to the earlier version.
Reboot in Safe Mode
If you do not have SP or SP2 installed, do so
Run a registry scan.

Update to most current version, check your processes (control, alt, delete) and see if there is anything abnormal (if you know what is supposed to be there and what isn't)
If anything is running really high and not supposed to be (example, system idle process can be high no worrys) then try ending the process. If it is something big and important xp will tell you not to end process by saying some kind of warning.

IF you need anti Virus, get Norton from the Google Pack

Good Luck

Although it depends on your own choice, however i would recommend you not to try Norton. Number one reason is that it uses 70% of system resources according to recent surveys. Also dont try free antivirus such as avast, it corrupted my system files and i had to restore the computer. One of the best ones is kaspersky.

It's something to do with networking. Don't mess with any processes that you don't know.

This has to be a virus. Either that, or did you do something to your computer? Try to remember if you've done anything that may corrupt data. If not, try getting a paid Anti-Virus. If not, Ask friends if they know a good free Anti-Virus. Do a Scan, then see. If not, get a computer repair person or whatever they're called. IF not, go check your program files... And see what you have there. If they're something abnormal, delete it. This may be the problem. If not... I have no more advice for ya, bud.
