Some good ones in there. I was actually looking at poker while it was still unreg'd. Went back to get it later and you had it. As I mentioned in another thread, I'm a bit shy on content specific umpc domains because it is unclear if web sites will pop up to serve these devices specifically (as opposed to all mobile devices). But I do think the wallpaper and background domains are strong. VOD looks good as do supplies, parts, wimax, and wifi.

But I think the real darkhorse in your list is umpcspot.com Since this thing seems to have some sort of location specific functionality, this site my really blossom.

I picked up 5 more this morning:

umpcrecovery.com
umpcdock.com (as in docking station)
umpcsync.com
umpcadaptor.com (there's always one that I regret within a few minutes)
umpcrpgs.com

Hopefully this thing will take off!!

Thanks for your thoughts.

Here is an interview with Otto Berkes former chief architect and current general manager of the ultra mobile PC (umpc) division within Microsoft courtesy of Channel 9.

BTW, you beat me out of UMPCDock.com by a matter of minutes this morning.

Please continue to share your impressions.

Thanks,
Kimmy

:guilty: And I only posted about half the domains I registered.

I like them all. But, specifically the tech related ones. I like your "UM" ones too, makes perfect sense to try that.

I picked up:

UMPCMessenger . com
UltramobileMessenger . com
UltramobileCasino . com

For now.....

Let's hope this term skyrockets.

I like your names Kimmy. Any of them getting traffic yet? 1&1 won't let me forward my names yet. Still says "Waiting for approval" which makes me think 15 people tried to reg the same names at the same time and they're looking at timestamps to see who gets them or something.

I picked up

UMPC101.com
PlanetUMPC.com

YIKES

Better check your CP's - I just looked at the UMPC names I reg'd yesterday and good 2/3's of them now say "domain is already registered". Meaning, I didn't really get it. BUGGER! Now I'm hot! Anyone else have that issue? NEvermind, don't want to ruin your thread Kimmy. I'll post a new one.

Thanks everyone, really nice names. Phonesis, I’m sorry to hear that; I don’t think I could think of anything worse than registering quality domains and finding out the registration was not successful.

Here are some further applications for this new PC category. Eleksen has just introduced their new Fabric Keyboards which are UMPC-optimized to work not only as a keyboard but to store the UMPC as a case. BTW, FabricKeyboard.net is still available as I write this. And, here's an interesting article from Digital Lifestyle "Watch TV From Anywhere In The World, On Your UMPC!".

Please keep the appraisals coming.

Kind regards,
Kimmy

which keyword will catch on?:
umpc or ultra-mobilepc?

even though ultra-mobile is longer, I feel umpc does not come off my tougue easily. Or maybe another name would emerge in the future?

UMPCDownload (.)com
UMDownloads (.)com
UltramobileGames (.)com
UltramobileDownloads (.)com

So much so that your post convinced me to pick up:

UMPCBasics.com
UltraMobileBasics.com
UltraMobilePCBasics.com

Fingers are crossed we've all made good choices!

Thanks, reputation has been added to everyone.

Here’s my prediction for this new computer category (Ultra-Mobile PC, UMPC). It will begin amidst some hype with mostly mixed reviews at best. The techies who get on board early (essentially as test pilots) will be of great assistance to developers for the second and more importantly third generations of these devices. As battery life increases, refinements are implemented, production will swell and costs hopefully will drop below the $400 level which will jolt public interest considerably.

I think one of the biggest obstacles to ultimate success will be decreasing the size to go along with the price while improving functionality. These need to be smaller to be truly Ultra-Mobile but with so many companies capable of involvement in the manufacturing of these and the possible windfall profits promised to the company that establishes itself at the fore. I can’t imagine this category will lay dormant the way the Tablet PC category did.

If the stars line up properly and intelligence & ingenuity lead the way. This could be the next sliced bread.

Just my opinion.

Nice names.

If the term UMPC becomes popular, you'll probably earn $xxxxx at least.

I almost registered umpcvista.com last night but didn't because I was worried about Microsoft TM issues. It was already registered this morning. Now I don't know what to think...should I have grabbed it or would that have been a fight with Microsoft down the road?

A little bit off-topic, I think the UMPC can finally be the thing that destroys Apple. People are not going to want to carry around a UMPC and a video iPod. Without the iPod Apple would sink like a rock. Of course Apple will start making their own UM"MAC" (btw UMMAC.net is available), but there is only so much elegance and "Appleness" you can put in this formfactor. Apple will not be able to dominate in this product category IMO.

I agree. People either love Macs or hate them. I'm an Alienware nut myself. Before everyone runs out to snap up all the UMMAC names (per your post above), I doubt they will call them that since Mac has always sought to differentiate themselves from the PC market.

But just in case, I reg'd ultramobilemac.com :red:
