Watching the crazy spiralling prices of numeric dot coms, specially the love of chinese for the number "8", it would be interesting to note what 8.com goes for, if it sells one fine day:

https://sedo.com/search/details.php4?domain=8.com

Note: Listed at Sedo only 2 days back (01/19/15) with minimum price set at only $799, I wonder how it came to be listed on Sedo in first place instead of going through top brokers (being an ULTRA ULTRA premium numeric)

88888.com went for $245,000 in 2013 and it's only an NNNNN

The 8.com is "Registrar: RESERVED-INTERNET ASSIGNED NUMBERS AUTHORITY"
so its a fake one.

Are you going to pay when the seller accepts? We already know it's an IDN or error so why bother with offers?
Even though the minimum offer is $799, he will most likely receive high $x,xxx and low-mid $xx,xxx+ offers so it may be a lost cause from the start.

Cmon guys i am just kiddin why so serious...

I guess it's quite an oversight on Sedo's part, specially when you allow an LL.com to be listed without real verification (IDN or non-IDN). If an IDN, there should be an ICON shouting loud "IDN" against the name.

The reserved domain name cm.com was sold to someone less than a week ago(apparently) and then was registered :D
Creation Date: 16-jan-2015
Maybe ICANN and the registry have started their 2015 sales of reserved domains.

CM.com was created / registered under a court order, see here: http://domainnamewire.com/2015/01/2...w-the-domain-name-cm-com-was-just-registered/

Indeed. Sometimes it is possible to find that the registry itself trying to sell a domain name on marketplace platform.
H.org, one letter .org domain is listed on DomainNameSales.
I made an offer on the listing page and after one day the registry representative told me the offer is too low(obviously) and that this is one of the most valuable domain names....etc.
This was part of project 94 which is discussed on the webpage of H.org.

Now, this is some news!
Some people would now say maybe this particular Sedo rep himself is an IDN (not a real rep) !!! :)

But if it's actually the real 8.com, as the Sedo rep says, why the hell the owner chose the minimum price at $799 for such a premium name!!

Can someone speak to Dave Evanson or some VP at Sedo to get it clarified for once and all?

I highly doubt it was listed by the registry, because if they did why not list all single digit numbers? and if they are doing that, they might aswell list the reserved single letters aswell....

Code:
Status: serverDeleteProhibited
Status: serverTransferProhibited
Status: serverUpdateProhibited

Those are enforced by VeriSign, not the registrar. Even if someone managed to obtain ownership of this domain name, they couldn't delete, transfer, or update it.

I am not saying this is the real deal... because it isn't... but people do put premium domains up with ridiculously low "BINs/OBOs" to attract attention. There are so many idiots who think they can get an LLL.com or in this case a N.com for $799 that it pads their numbers, which in turn makes the domain look more enticing to both endusers to resellers.

You are all forgettig something: sometimes, SEDO will require you to send them a screenshot of your registrar account as verification. This was the case when I listed there a few weeks back. A human looked at my screenshot and clicked the 'verified' link or whatever it is on SEDO's end. I'm guessing this happened, with the rep who saw the screenshot clearly screwing up ie he thought he saw 8, not an IDN.

That is a truly terrible method of verification. So easily faked. :S

"Dear ***,

Thank you for your recent bid on the domain name 8.com.

It has been brought to Sedo's attention that the seller who has listed 8.com for sale is no longer in fact the registered owner. Therefore, Sedo has no choice but to cancel your bid for8.com and remove the listing from Sedo's site and services.

While we apologize for any inconvenience, we would like to invite you to browse the Sedo marketplace for a suitable alternative.

If you would like to continue to pursue the acquisition of 8.com, our brokerage team would be happy to try to reach out to the current owner, to find out if the domain is for sale. To make a brokerage request, please visit https://sedo.com/brokerage/acquisition.php

Best Regards,

Your Sedo Team
Customer Support - UK/International"

Maybe not meet price want, maybe is truth not was the owner

The domain was never for sale because it's reserved by IANA and thus unassigned, like most single letter/number com/net/org domains. Sedo goofed up on this one.

There are no IDN numbers that look like 8. Someone managed to list the domain in a way that skirted the verification process.

Like they ever were.

Also, Sedo won't even let you search for any string less than two characters. Their search is amongst the worst anyway.
