Experienced for the first time another good reason why Epik is like gold:

Sold a domain. Went to get auth code because buyer wants to transfer. Not only does Epik not throw up any unpleasant grasping obstacles or inconveniences to letting you go, but they practically treat you like royalty to help you do it complete with red carpet, concierge and personal escort. Not just how you would want to be treated but above and beyond. Try it, you'll see. Was a pleasant surprise. I had already unlocked the domain, but they actually check for you and enable you to do it with a single click in the formal transfer out and auth retrieval process. (Ironically, my buyer is the one who still hasn't acted yet despite having paid in full.)

Apologies for being late to this party. Just getting back from an 18 day, 5 country trip and managed to get on an international flight without a working WiFi. It happened to be on a day when we created some excitement.

For calibration, $8.10 is the hard cost from Verisign and ICANN for a .COM. The most recent PayPal rate increase is insane. Here is what happens with PayPal on your $8.10 domain purchase.

Total amount: $8.10 USD
Fee amount: -$0.53 USD
Net amount: $7.57 USD

That is a whopping 6.6%. Insane. Credit card processors are a little better but they are opportunists do.

When you are dealing in hundreds of domains, that is chump change. When you are dealing in hundreds of thousands of domains, it adds up.

Also, registrars keep funds on deposit with Verisign -- in other words we pre-pay Verisign. When customers pay us via PayPal or Credit card, we get those funds 2-3 days later as usable funds. Charity is one thing, but that is an upside-down economic model as it scales. And it is scaling as registrants move on from their legacy registrars in search of a reliable partner to hold their domain assets, process escrow and process domain sales/leases.

So all that being said, to get the $8.10 deal, here are the options:

- Wire funds into your Epik account

- Make a counter deposit at any Chase or Wells Fargo branch

- Pay via Bitcoin

- Sell or lease your domains via Epik -- your proceeds are deposited commission free, and tax-free, and are instantly available funds for domain purchases, etc

In other words, the $8.10 deal is completely on the table. It just requires our large volume clients to not have Epik hold the drippy bag from PayPal. Those guys are simply crooks. It is not just the transaction fees. They are also now charging insane fees for sending funds, e.g. a customer yesterday receiving a $2500 escrow proceeds getting charged another $51.25 in PayPal fees for a disbursement. It is nuts. The domain industry needs to do its part to put these jerks out of business.

So, bottomline, if anyone wants the $8.10 deal, just contact your account rep or support, and they will update your account to the $8.10 cost deal subject to the above funding methods.

At the end of the day, Epik is still the best deal around. With all-inclusive $8.10 .COM and a fantastic bundle of value-added services included at no additional cost. However, we do need our clients to cooperate and put these PayPal opportunists out of business. Enough is enough. #StopUsingPaypal

I have been using Epik now for quite sometime. I am a very pleased customer. Not just price but service. I once had a question that I emailed Epik about at 11:30pm and I got a personal rely with the solution within minutes from Rob, himself? Even back in his hayday could you even phantom that service from Bob Parsons? Not even that quick from one of their service reps.

Easy transfer and a Marketplace with no or low commisions.

@ramkumaritrvs - Glad you got setup on the pricing!
@NamesMax - Thanks for the kind comments and feedback - Rob still does that along with our great customer support team. We try our very best to provide Legendary Customer Support in an industry where it is clearly lacking.

@alcy - Our knowledgebase may be able to answer some of your questions as it contains detailed instructions and illustrations for specific functions within our domain management interface. I'd suggest if you don't already have an account, to create one and at least add some of your external domains to get an idea of just how powerful our tools really are.

I've asked our engineers to see if there's something we can do so that you can test out the Epik.com Marketplace... I'll keep you posted on that.

Your 15 days grace after expiration period is nuts, just like Godaddy's. Dynadot offers 40 days.
Are there any plans to make it reasonable?

@elmoney - That's correct on .com renewal pricing.

Well in that case, it is cheaper to stay with GD (with the DDC). I was happy to transfer all my domains as the renewals were coming up and I have already transferred a whole bunch, but the surge in pricing changes everything.

@HKIBC - Please PM me your account name and I'll adjust the pricing for your account. As for the MarketPlace, you can add external domains via this link when you're logged into your Epik.com account: https://registrar.epik.com/portfolio-import and then setup prices etc.

@Adam27 :lookaround:

@HKIBC - I can appreciate your point of view but it is not our intent to force customers to get one domain over for the marketplace. : ) I can definitely see where that would be a bit of a turn off. I'm awaiting a response from our technical team on this so its no longer an issue. Thanks for your patience here. Epik takes your feedback very seriously and continually works to improve every single day.

With NS you can use one domain and add external domains to the MarketSite. You seriously believe having to have one domain at the registrar is "Bait and Switch"?

If you use this discount you can register/transfer/renew .com for $8.10 WAY lower than most other registrars. Without volume discounting, that's incredible. Registrars profit margins are thin.

Price isn't everything, support and features are important considerations. I was a customer of Epik before and so far customer support has been good.

Do you need a domain at Epik to use the MarketPlace feature? Perhaps Roy @RL or someone else wants to chime in?

@Adam27 - thanks for the endorsement :-D We can now waive the domain registration requirement for the Epik.com Marketplace so that everyone can try it out free of charge. Just PM me or reply to this thread, thank you!

NameSilo also offers 31-33 if I recall correctly, 15 days is too little!

What do you do with the domains when the Registrant fails to renew them?

a) Auction them at platforms like Namejet
b) Auction them at your marketplace
c) Delete them from registry
d) Keep it for yourself (Push to Rob's account)
