So i am looking through the names at ebay I come across 69.com for sale with a bid of 1600 or so . the same seller is listing 69.org. I say to myself wow these would be two great names to own.Check the whois and they are owned by two seperate people. I email the seller asking if he would take escrow payment. Of course he says no. Only credit card payment. My question is how can ebay let somthing like this go on at there site?

Now i could be wrong this might not be a scam, but i seriously doubt it.

LOL @ not accepting escrow on what will of course be a high-dollar transaction. I wonder in terms of $$$ per month how much fraud successfully goes on at eBay. Even though we catch some of these people and eBay then removes listings (sometimes), how many people are suckered into losing money and then told by eBay (lack of) customer service "caveat emptor".

Eeeeek....a domain this big being paid by paypal?
If legit, what happens if chargeback
If fraud, what happens if chargeback fails.

Defenately risky if the buyer doesnt want to accept escrow.
May verify identity by asking seller to change name servers would help

While not in the same level of names, I did smell something fishy going on in another auction. I was watching an adult related name to add to my portfolio. I was somewhat tempted by it even though I already own a name in the same niche.

The auction said the name was registered at Go Daddy & expired in October 2007. Something told me to look at the whois & I noticed something wrong.

The first sign was the name was showing as being registered at NameCheap. The second sign was the fact it expired in June 2007. So I decided not to bid as it smelled fraudulent.

I remember seeing a thread asking about domain appraisal on 69.com and everyone were doubting the thread starter whether it was his domain. Hmm.

Moderators....can we automatically add the word "SCAM" onto the end of any thread containing the words, "..on EBay"?

Just did a search on eBay for 69.com and couldn't see it. Maybe it has been reported and removed.

Ask him (the seller) to change the nameservers on the domain to prove ownersship.

Changing nameservers proves control, not ownership.
And most legit owners would tell ya to bugger-off if the site is currently parked/making money ;)
It's fake, it's eBay. Search "eBay" here and you'll see three things: 1) folks selling on eBay , 2) eBay is full of scams , 3) Reduced price selling days.
