I see a lot of posts asking for this type of information, and also a lot of posts with inaccurate information, so I thought I would make this available to everyone.

If anyone sees a problem with any of my statistics please let me know...

Would appreciate if this stats are accompanied with list of available names so folks can reg... Just my 2 cents!

It would infuriate some people on this board if I released a list of the remaining "prime names", so I stick to the statistics.

But, there are tools and websites that will allow you to build list and many registrars offer bulk checks.

What's interesting is that this same folks can't reg all the names so why not just be selfless and everybody's happy! Lets not forget that if all names are not regged, the buy out will never happen..

Things do seem to be slowly moving forward again if it's a third left now.

If it gets to around 20-25% to go at some stage then i'm bullish of a rush on to reg the rest.

5L Chinese Premium Registration Rate has definitely picked up the last two weeks.

Week before last they were being registered at about 4,000 a day.
Last week they were being registered at about 3,000 a day.

Which is still quite an uptick when they were going at about 1,500 a day a couple of weeks ago.

A random sample of course has an inherit margin of error.

My method, which scans all possible combinations in the zone file, also has a margin of error as some domains do not have name servers.

But it is a safe bet to assume the actual availability is between 30%-33%

Only way to have a definitive number would be to scan the whois for all records still showing available in the zone file - but at this time the dataset is just too large to devote resources to that.

I don't know really. I see activity of 5L.coms for the last 2 weeks.

we have seen 4L.co, 4L.info, 4L.biz, 4L.org 5N.co chip, 5N.info chip and some other buyouts.
totally they are about available 5L.coms. so nothing impossible. but nothing guaranteed ))

5,000 per day is a good number.

I should imagine as the overall number goes less even more 5L will get registered per day. Metaphorically, creating a snowball effect.
