.US domains.US domains
The domain registrations are for .info's.. and after all the posts that have gone on around here about how bad 1and1 can be and what a nightmare their customer support is, I hope everyone will think twice before using them. Google "1and1 sucks" or go to www.webhostingjury.com/reviews/1and1

You've been warned... this has been posted on Digg and it's a shame so many will be sucked in once again by the hideous monster that is 1and1.. ;)

Sedo is owned by 1and1.

I suspect 1and1 owns some shares of sedo.

Can you transfer these .info domains from 1 and 1 to another registrar after 6 months?

Yes. I had bough one domain from 1and1 and switched it to Go Daddy after about 2 months. It took about 7 business days, and was very smooth. And I didn't have to contact 1and1's customer service at all to do it.

Unfortunately, you may still have to physically cancel the original package with 1and1.. they have an uncanny knack for charging you later for domains you no longer have registered with them.

Once again 1and1.com aka 1 & 1 Internet Services Suck

1and1.com aka 1 & 1 Internet Services Suck!

Learn from the mistakes of others...

[edit]Here is my opinion of the Sedo / 1and1.com relationship as it relates to my business

I have 500+ names - vast majority at sedo...currently

So far I have tried:

Goldkey - hated them
Sedo - low pay, low conversion, low traffic
DomainSpa - too many "rejected" clicks from a long list of prohibited countries
NameDrive - pretty happy so far - right off the bat I received higher stats and clicks and click revenue...Nicer landing pages (though DomainSpa has the nicest imo, but the pop ups are spammy)...I am piloting their program with 50+ names (10% portfolio) to see how they perform.

I will say that my decision to move away from Sedo will be just as much based on their relationship with 1and1.com (<-- devil) as it will be with revenue...I just cannot do business with any form of 1and1.com...

Sedo and 1and1.com are the same

So how will 1 and 1's reputation reflect on Sedo?

my main reason to moving all my domains to Name Drive was the lack of customer Service at Sedo, and Ed's attention to detail and immediate responses to emails at Name Drive.

If your reading this Ed, never lose site of why people are flocking to Name Drive for parking - it's the personal touch that you provide. As Name Drive grows into something much bigger don't lose it.

Back to the original post about the free .infos. I've reg'd a whole lot more than 5 .infos and they haven't charged me for any of them They'll only let me put 5 in a "package" but there doesn;t seem to be alimit as to how many free .info's you can get.

I am pretty sure these are the guys who kept trying to charge my credit card for renewal after the one year was up. It was one of two companies where you could get 25 or 50 "free .info's".

Anyway, my credit union finally called me, and asked me if I knew anyone overseas that I wanted, or would allow, to charge to my debit card!! Luckily, at the time, I didn't have enough money in my account. The credit union then made sure not to allow any more attempts by them to charge to my card.

Moral here: Nothing is free!!!!

Thats why I stay with SRSplus. They let me wire them a thousand or two at a time and I have the funds on my account to register and renew at my own pleasure without worrying if the payment went through on time.

After reading the story of A1.com I would never leave my renewals open to the risks of Credit Card payments. http://www.namepros.com/domain-name-discussion/165674-a1-com-current-status.html?highlight=a1.com

So you must sign up with a credit card information on board, that sounds like they have planned to charge for the free infos anyways...

hahahaha:'( ...you go, dude...keep going. Let us know how many you get away with:'( . I'll bet they'll overlook it. They seem to overlook charging everyone else. :'(

...look at that...you forced me to use the smiley...I NEVER use the smiley...
