Mike Mann sells the domain AgriCool.com for $40,000.

I'm a fan of Mr.Mann, and believe that he provides the industry with a lot of instruction on how to properly price domains.

Many investors would have sold this for $500 - $1500.

    Congratulations Mike!

"Many investors would have sold this for $500 - $1500."

Because that's all it was worth until this company got funded. Obviously if someone raises 4.3 million you throw out the line to see if they bite and they did.

    Nice sale.

In 2009 I was going to Bat Mitzvahs and my biggest concern was how not to be awkward.

    So I missed this one.

For every sale Mike Mann has, he has THOUSANDS of domains that are not sold and being paid for.

Agricool / French company. It's not just a completely new start up. It's a co that's been around a bit raised the money and (I assume) bought the domain. As well they got the fairly big money the $4.3m ten months ago, not like they just got funded and immediately decided to buy a domain.

The brand new start ups with no money could not afford to pay much.

Still what Mann did and should be commended for is becoming aware of all this and, I assume anyway, selling the domain to them for top dollar. In a vacuum the domain keywords agri and cool don't add up to much.

I've contacted foreign companies with domain names of mine before doesn't hurt to try but not all care about securing the dot com counterpart to what they have.

When you own that many domains, you are bound to make sales that are out of the ordinary.

They actually raised $9.1 million only two weeks ago: Agricool raises $9.1 million to grow fruits and vegetables in containers. I would imagine that played into their decision to finally buy the .com.

It seems like there is some dispute how many names he owns. I have heard 400,000. Anyone know the real number (approximately)?

He bought it in 2009. I don't think the company even existed at that time.

There is a heavily funded agri tech startup that operates from .co extension.
I too would not have sold it cheaper, but yes, wouldn't have renewed it for 8 years of course .

    not really

    1) you would not have regged it
    2) You would not have bought it
    3) you would not have doubbled your org asking price from $19.888 usd to $40k

We call this "Monday morning quarterbacking."

Everyone is Mike Mann AFTER the sale goes down :xf.rolleyes: - happens every time a sale is discussed, so I'm not surprised.

Even with funding in mind most domainers would have quoted $10k and taken $2k the second it was offered. Does nobody reads the completed sales section anymore?

So everyone can talk about funding etc... which is painfully obvious btw, it's like pointing out that the Empire State building is tall, but you know you have that domain in your portfolio right now that fits a company which was funded for many millions and they have yet to acknowledge your existence.

Or maybe you don't have a domain like that because you are that domainer that sold it already for $3k

Hundreds of thousands of domains + a huge wallet = being able to sit on a domain 'till the end of time ( aka when the right offer comes in )

He does not need to undersell, he is a multi million dollar company.

With this said though, congratulations to him for not having accepted a lower offer.

    You might want to reconsider..

    https://www.cnet.com/news/meet-the-mann-who-registered-14962-domains-in-24-hours/

    https://onlinedomain.com/2016/12/19/domain-name-news/much-mike-mann-making-domain-names-per-year/

    https://www.namepros.com/blog/a-chat-with-domainmarket-com-owner-mike-mann.872063/

He is a multi million dollar company; acquisitions, sales, domains owned...everything is supersized compared to the average domainer.
