question 358.com

Spaceship Spaceship

How this domain 358.com is pending delete is beyond me. Being at Enom of course I had expected this to be auctioned at Namejet, but it wasn't.

Which backorder system will get this we don't know, most likely DC or SN... How much do you think the buyer will pay?

Post your "bets"!

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Current high bid: $420,000

There is no doubt that a few End Users are involved in this auction.
To think I had a name.com backorder for this domain...xD.
It would have been nice to get it for $49, though it was obvious that the chances of that happening are slim.
I started watching this domain 7 months ago.

The auction will probably end close to $1m.

Just wondering, can the most previous owner still recover this domain if they try to re-register or is it past that point..??

Hmmm,

I'm kind of seeing a connection between this case and ICANN's desire to weaken or even eliminate privacy whois.

It's a complicated issue with cogent arguments, both pro and con, but I can see how this case might be a tipping point.

In any case, it really took a big pair to pull off such a scheme.

It is quite clear why this domain dropped,

That's an investigation into money laundering, a completely different case. The documents for the trademark case are available through PACER.

Yes, but I'd bet that if you followed the money, the cases would be connected.

That would be quite a scoop!

I don't mean to disappoint you, but I've read the court papers to write the article about the trademark case that someone posted above and I can say with absolute certainty that there is no connection between that and the money laundering case, which has been ongoing for quite some time now.

The people that used to run the casinos at 358.com were not real casino operators, but rather what in the gambling industry people call "deposit only casinos" as if by any chance players ended up winning, they didn't get paid.

I'm not at all disappointed.

And I'm not saying anything with 100% certainty, but let's just say that if I were the Feds, I'd be snooping around.

They are up in LL.com land. I hope this domain has a ton of residual traffic from the former casino side. The Alexa rank is 4.5 million, but maybe they can't track Asia very well.

$480k is the final price. Let's see if the winning bidder will pay.

Did anyone notice what happened to 359.com? This was part of the same scandal as 358 but 359 expired later.

Network Solutions held 359 in client hold and against ICANN rules they renewed for another year. The domain has quietly been sold.

This is a pattern with this registrar. They've held many domains in client hold to their benefit. I've launched a complaint with ICANN.

480 is a bargain. they would be able to turn around and resell it within a year making 100 % profit.

No once it dropped it dropped

I think I hope they never find out. Finding out would be...painful.

Wow, these number domains are insane.
