If there is a 3 character trademark that exists. Would it be a bad idea to register a 3 character domain? Since the domain is 3 character, does it fall into a TM issue or does it fit to be a generic domain not violating copyright?

Last I checked, all 3 character domains are taken except for some country-
code extensions (ccTLDs).

The safest answer to your question is it's a case to case basis.

I agree with davezan, also be aware that a number ( I have a list somewhere) of three chars domain are reserved by government.
Risky business if not handled with care.
