I am curious as to what would be the worst appraisal for the following:

LLL.com (letter-letter-letter, not literally LLL)

Think the most nonsensical three letters. What is the value *just because* it's three letters?

N = Number, L = Letter:

What would be the worst for (all .COM):
Format / Example
LLL XWV
LLN XW3
LNL G1B
LNN G03
NLL 3XW
NLN 3G6
NNL 03U
NNN 037

what about .net?

It would be interesting to have a monthly poll on the "base market value" of certain features.

XZQ/QZX would be right up there on my worst of LLL list, but could still see the .com going for $700+ and the net for$350.
Any QXZ combo-particularly w/ numbers (other than 1, 2, 4, 7 which I place a higher value on: one because it's first, 2 can = to or too, 4 can = for and 7 is considered lucky and has an aura about it.)
The value order 1st to last: (of course there are exceptions)

LNN =to NNL

I would give fair valuation of a "junk" three letter .com of around $300-400, though inflated sales do occur because of a perceived rareness of three letter domains and the novelty of owning one. If you were to contact owners of many of these existing 17,000+ names I expect you would find many negotiable in that price range or lower.

So finding two completely junky three character .coms unregistered and registering them at reg fee is smart, no matter the three char name?

G1B.com
H8X.com

were just sitting there unregistered and I never had a three-char domain before ;)

It's the three letter domains that are valuable, not any three characters, although there are exceptions.

You're random examples might be fun to own for personal use, but unless they're brandable or you develop them, it's unlikely that they'll be worth more than reg fee.

-RJ-'s valuation is realistic. Alot depends upon how the DN is acquired. I recently dropped out of a Pool auction for KEJ.net, a name w/ potential, but w/o any special inherant value, as far as I could tell. The last time I looked, w/ over 1 day left on the auction, the bid was at $570, more than I was willing to pay, and well over my perceived value for this name.

Right on. Your example of H8X, for instance, could be str-e-ched to have a meaning of "Hate X" (as in X-rated). But w/o dev and branding, the whse value for H8X.com will be right around reg fee, perhaps a couple of dollars more, due to the possible"hate X" association.
