I even called GD billing support to ask if it's okay to register or renew multiples at that discounted rate and they said that yes it was OK. GRRRRRRRRR that makes me really angry.

Ah... I see I missed it. The 50MB Economy Online Folder isn't on sale anymore. Tsk, Tsk...

So THIS is how they "test" offers before us resellers get them? LOL I'm glad. :D

So the offer won't work any more? :(

No - you were all trying to take advantage of a glitch in the system.

Were the names you registered worth it even at the reduced prices?

I'm not agree, it's not the first loophole-like promotion at GoDaddy.

It wasn't a glitch in the system, it was a glitch in their marketing.

I suppose everyone understands that Verisign charges (as reported to me) $6.00 per domain registration year (for a dot com). To this, the ICANN tax of 25 cents is added.

It is not wrong to take advantage of such offers, this is how GoDaddy evaluates its marketing efforts. So, they lost some money, they learned, they know better how to protect their position the next time.

In the long run it helps them because they are encouraging new customers and gaining a reputation as the ultimate deal leader in Domains.

Yeah, too bad they closed that loophole early.. in one sense you can't blame them as they are in business to make money, not lose it. I fudged around too long and never even took advantage of it myself.. no big deal tho!

Well I don't see your point or your evaluation of Godaddy's marketing strategy.

In my opinion - people are taking advantage in the hopes of saving a dollar or two on registrations which is really what this is all about

I am thinking that in the near future, there are going to be a lot of places offering discounts on registration, even below cost. The reason I believe this is because eventually the registrar of record is going to get a percentage of the after expiration auction sales, plus they are able to test traffic before letting a name expire (whether we think this is right or wrong). So I think it would be beneficial to get as many names registered as possible into their system.

Just one way of looking at it.

They've stopped the sale on 50MB
back to $4.95/yr
while 100MB at 4.97.

I guess I'll splurge the extra 2 cents for the extra 50MB.
