$200 Template Contest (topblogarea.com)

Hello designers!
Im looking for a new design for topblogarea.com i hired a guy to create a web 2.0 design for it but it ended up bad.
I saw some designs in this thread and was like aw shit mine sucks hehe

I prefer happy colors, white background where all the text is, blue links and black text, id like to have a 2.0 design as much as possible.
As you see two new things were added on the new design, one box for top 5 articles and one for newest blogs.
Those needs to be in the new design which are new features im gonna add.

In the table there needs to fit in a 468 x 60 banner above title on each blog in the tabke like

i also forgot to say that there needs to fit in a 728 x 90 adsense banner above the table, terrible sorry that i forgot to say that.


The winner will get 170$ and seconds place will get 30$ and payment will be through paypal.
You may choose colors or whatever colors you think would look nice on the template as long as its happy colors, no dark ones.

This contest will end at 9th January

However could you make the menu abit smaller in width?
And the todays top 5 articles and newst blogs boxes could make so the box content backgrounds are in neutral color and the text is black or blue.
like on http://www.amman.com/main2.jpg the menu boxes have a light neutral color.
The content box top bar looks awesome though.

Btw could you post it in real size? with watermark of course its hard to see the real size.

Here's my concept so far, went for a complete 2.0/modern feel. I have added the 2 new boxes you mentioned, as well as advertisement spaces for the site. The text based links I made will also help the site load a lot faster. Hope you like the design and feedback is appreciated. Thanks

Its not really what im looking for, the design needs to be clean, text doesnt really work on that color, it gets blurry , i prefer when text are on white background.

The design is pretty nice, but could you remove the advertisement at the right side?

remember that each blog needs to be able to have a 468 x 60 banner above the blog title, if you have a look at topblogarea.com you will see what i mean.
One other thing i forgot to tell is that there needs to fit in a 728 x 90 google banner above the table, im terrible sorry that i forgot to say that.

The menu where Home and submit blog feels abit dull maybe you could piff it up abit :D something that seperates each line/row like a faded color or something. Have a look at http://www.gamesites200.com/ultimaonline/ for ideas :D

The table needs some work aswell maybe even the category list.
But the design it self is very intresting :D

Thanks for the quick feedback! I will go ahead and start working on the revisions, hopefully I will post soon. I am going to be out tomorrow through monday, but Im planning to transfer all the work to my laptop and work on it when I have spare time. Thanks again.

Thanks for the compliment...every designer likes to have their work appreciated. I have spent thousands and thousands and thousands of hours doing this type of work in the past ten years...that's the only way to get good at it.
